Physics (One-on-one or group tuition) (IB SL, GCSE, iGCSE)

-I am currently doing a PhD at Imperial College London

-MSc Biochemistry University of Oxford:I graduated in 2018 with a specialization in virology

-HL Maths 7/7; HL Physics 7/7; HL Chemistry 7/7; SL Geography 7/7; SL French 7/7; SL Enligsh: 6/7. I graduated in 2014 from United World College of South East Asia East Campus in Singapore

I taught at Oxford Royale Academy teaching Chemistry, Physics, and Academic Writing to students aged 16-18 in groups of 8 to 25 students. In my final years of high school and while studying at Oxford, I tutored students in groups of up to 5. I I specialize in preparing students for IB, A-levels, or IGCSEs exams, but I also have experience tutoring students as young as 8 years old.

My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. I push my students to think independently and to apply abstract concepts to real-world scenarios. I start with topics that the student is fairly comfortable with, progressing slowly to new and more complex areas as their understanding grows. I tend to use past exam paper questions on a particular topic to check understanding as we're going through the topic. Once a student has grasped a topic, I shift my focus to exam technique: what to look for in exam questions, common pitfalls, and how to start tackling the more challenging questions. I believe that a clear and systematic approach is essential when tacking exams in the sciences.

About Me

I am a 23-year-old Belgian-Irish student who has just started a 4 year PhD at Imperial College London in the research area "The Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection” with a focus on viruses.

I grew up a little all over the world having been born in South Africa and having lived in Swaziland, Poland, Bosnia, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Timor Leste, and Singapore where I completed my International Baccalaureate at the United World College. After completing my IB in 2014, I moved to Oxford to attend a 4 year-integrated Master’s course in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford. After graduating from Oxford in the summer of 2018, I moved to Munich Germany for a virology internship at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In February 2019 I began tutoring full time before the start of my PhD in October 2019.

I am an extremely active person and enjoy a variety of sports. I used to sail competitively internationally in the Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial Classes, and still sail during the holidays. Since being at university my love for rugby has also grown. However given my susceptibility to injury and clumsiness, I now only stick to Touch Rugby. I also boulder/rock climb as often as I can.

I have experience teaching and tutoring students aged 10-19 and I am comfortable with the iGCSE, GCSE, IB, A-Level, and EB (European Baccalaureate) syllabuses. I have in-depth experience tutoring both the iGCSE and IB in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. I push my students to think independently and to apply abstract concepts to real-world scenarios. I start with topics that the student is fairly comfortable with, progressing quickly to new and more complex areas as their understanding grows. I tend to use past exam paper questions on a particular topic to check understanding as we're going through the topic. For IB and the IGCSE, I have made summary notes on each unit topic and have compiled past exam paper questions on that topic with answers. Once a student has grasped a topic, I shift my focus to exam technique: what to look for in exam questions, common pitfalls, and how to start tackling the more challenging questions. I believe that a clear and systematic approach is essential when studying for exams in the sciences.

Education

I am currently doing a PhD in infectious disease at Imperial College London. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a Masters degree in Biochemistry in June 2018 and a bachelor degree in June 2017. I completed my IB diploma in 2014 receiving 7/7 in Higher Level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry and Standard Level Geography and French.

Experience / Qualifications

Tutoring Experience:
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography. I tutored part time during my undergraduate years at university, and I tutored full time post-graduation from February 2019-September 2019. During my time in Munich, I built up an international tutoring network of over 15 full time students. Many of my students attend international schools and I have tutored the following subjects: IB HL and SL Chemistry, IB HL Physics, IB HL and SL Biology, IB HL and SL Maths, IB SL Maths Studies, iGCSE double and triple science, iGCSE 0580 and 0607 Maths, iGCSE Geography, and iGCSE French. I have also tutored several students who follow the European Baccalaureate programme in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology. I have had 2 students under the age of 14, to help support them in Maths and general sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I worked as a teacher at Oxford Royale Academy in Oxford immediately after graduation. I taught Chemistry, Physics and Academic writing to classes of students aged 16-19. The class sizes were between 5-25 students. I really enjoy teaching a classroom of students, but I prefer the more personalised teaching approaches I can use with smaller groups of students.

Private lessons in math, physics-chemistry and science.
Give your child the future he deserves. Do you want to significantly increase your child's average? Do you want it to become autonomous? For 2 years, I have helped more than 10 students in difficulty from college (sixth, fifth, fourth, third) and high school (second, first, terminal) to achieve their goals (good average, baccalaureate,) and to regain confidence in them. I am a student at INSAT. I had my scientific baccalaureate with an average of 16 so there is no need to worry;). I offer support courses in (physics, chemistry, math, science), each course is adapted according to the level of the student. My method in 3 points: - short term: significantly increase the average by assimilating the course and preparing for the next tests (assimilating the course, training in standard exercises, anticipating the teacher's expectations and test questions) - medium term: integrate reasoning and work methods assimilation, training exercise) - long-term: set a goal, build the steps to achieve this goal, become aware, have confidence in your abilities, unlock your potential) My greatest reward is to see my students progress, overcome difficulties and flourish throughout the school year, so do not hesitate to contact me for any additional information. I wish you very good luck in your research. Cordially.

| Private Maths and Physics Tutor | I am a professional tutor and former engineer. With over 3000 hours of teaching and tutoring experience, I am a highly decorated tutor and mentor. I specialize in guiding students for the best private schools and universities out there. I focus on the IB diploma, A levels, IGCSEs, MYP, AP, SAT's, ACT's, entrance and university exams. I have helped many students with learning difficulties and students from all over the world. I feel that my desire to help and my interest in meeting new people makes me successful when faced with new challenges I was appointed Head of Science at Salesian College Farnborough because I have a passion for math and science and love helping others. I studied Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at Bath University. During my studies, I spent a year working on CERN: The Large Hadron Collider and was awarded the "Inspirational Leader" award by my university Since then, I have tutored mathematics and physics to a large number of international students in Geneva, London, and online. I have tutored privately and also onsite at two international schools: College du Leman in Versoix and St Dunstan's College in London. I love to learn, and if I can help someone enjoy learning as well, that is amazing. My goal is to continue to grow as a person and as a professional. I want to continue to expand my understanding of math and technology. I especially enjoy simulating and modeling engines and drivetrains. I live and breathe football, played in teams for years, in college, and still do today for CERN. I also enjoy cooking, chess, and virtually any sport or game.
