I teach piano, both classical and popular music, and music theory. I teach technique, repertoire, music theory applied to the keyboard and how to read sheet music. I particularly enjoy teaching how music works: why a certain chord progression works, the patterns behind the melodies, and the structure of a song or a piece. I think all that trains our ears to understand the music better and enjoy it even more. But if you want to go straight to playing without caring too much about that stuff, I can of course adapt to that. I also teach Music Theory as an isolated subject. In those lessons, I teach starting from basic concepts like the notes, the scales, the different rhythmic values; to more advanced stuff like harmonic analysis of complex pieces.

I am a dedicated science and maths tutor, currently studying undergraduate Physics at Loughborough University. Having sat my A levels and GCSEs fairly recently, I am very familiar with the current curriculum, as well as the tips and tricks that help students get the critical marks to push them to the next grade boundaries. I self-taught Maths, Further Maths, and Physics A levels, which taught me to be able to attack concepts I got stuck on from different perspectives and in different ways; this is something I apply to teaching students, allowing them to overcome roadblock-topics. If you're starting from scratch, it's possible to reach an A2-B1 level within 6 months, depending on your time commitment, practice, and motivation.
