I graduated from an English language secondary school which was created with the purpose "to know the language of your enemy" and, of course, for official Russia that meant the US and England. So, teaching and learning English were taken very seriously there. I also studied English and Japanese at the university and obtained various academic degrees. I was often invited as an interpreter when delegations and single scholars visited the institute where I worked. In this way I became familiar with people around the world. When Russia became an open country, I applied for a job to teach Japanese History in Australia and was simultaniously offered a professor's position in Japan. Now I have been teaching at Japanese universities in English various subjects. I will be happy to share my experience with you.

It is rather difficult to urge 14-16 y. o. children to be interested in studying a foreign language, moreover at school. It seems too dull.
