Hello! I am a writer and teacher from Cambridge, living in Berlin since January 2023. I have been teaching for over 5 years and have taught a range of subjects including English Language, Politics and Sociology. I have worked in language schools in both Hamburg and Berlin as well as English state schools. I am a Cambridge University certified language teacher (CELTA) and have a postgraduate degree in education from the University of Cambridge where I was awarded the Lowman's prize for English from my college. I have taught a range of language levels from beginners to advanced and always try to foreground my learner's knowledge and interests. I also have lots of experience teaching business English and preparing students for examinations. I always aim to construct my teaching around the needs and desires of my students, but frequently use a discursive method for teaching as this is generally the end goal of learning any language. I believe people learn best when they are enjoying themselves, so try to find out about my students, what their interests are and then find suitable reading and discussion materials to help them engage with the learning process. I am very interested in social questions, philosophy, arts and culture, film, literature and people's personal life experiences. I am a very relaxed and patient teacher, who follows the pace set by the student. I enjoy connecting with new people and find teaching fun.
