With the omnipresence of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), SMS, WhatsApp and messaging of all kinds, children no longer need to make a lot of effort to access them. Everything is there, within reach. As parents, educators or mentors, we need to be informed, aware of what our children may be facing and how to talk about it with them to create a safer space. It is not necessarily a question of wanting to follow them in their movement towards “everything online”, but we cannot bury our heads in the sand, hide our faces.
