I prefer to teach in a way where I first briefly discuss the material with the student(s), then have the student do assignments and at the point that the student gets stuck, or I see that something is not quite right the student continues to explain the material, or to explain certain SMART FEATURES that are not in the book. It is very important for students to have CONFIDENCE towards their tests. That is why creating more confidence among the student is one of the goals during tutoring. For me it is important that the student really UNDERSTANDS the material WELL. So I will also ask a lot why the student gives a certain answer, whether it is a right or wrong answer. This teaches a student to reason his or her answers well and to think carefully about the answer given. The student also often corrects himself before I have said anything, if the answer was wrong. I also think it is important that the student does not dread the extra lessons, there should also be room for fun assignments, where the material is applied in a fun way. To achieve this, I sometimes try to come up with assignments myself, or find examples in the world around us that relate to the subject matter, in a more INTERESTING AND CHALLENGING FORM than in the book. The aim of this is for the student to enjoy the subject matter more.
