This class is for AQA English literature, specifically Power and Conflict Poetry that appear in GCSE English lit paper 1. Using my passion for literature, and guided by notes and essays i still have from my own GCSEs, for which i obtained a grade 9, this lesson is designed to guide the student into understanding the material presented, being able to compare between any two poems confidently, as well as being able to write a well structured and comprehensive essay that will obtain them a higher grade. Note: I will also have classes specifically for other elements of the course targeted for different sections and papers, such as An Inspector Calls and AQA English Language. If the student needs tutoring in any combination or all of these subject areas, you can still feel free to book lessons in a package and just specify what areas you want me to focus on. I am also hoping to be able to teach Romeo and Juliet and A Christmas carol, but need to go through and remake notes and refresh my understandig of these works to ensure high quality tutoring sessions, so teaching of these may be delayed. Note 2: due to circumstaces out of my control I am aiming to begin lessons in Early July, but may be able to do a few intro sessions for students who are interested.

The AQA English Language papers assess the students' reading comprehension as well as their ability to write creatively, it is separated by paper 1 (fiction) and 2 (non-fiction). In this class, I will be guiding the student through the skills needed to tackle these papers and produce a higher grade in their GCSE exams. Note: I aim to begin teaching around Early July due to personal circumstances but I may be able to give starter sessions to keen students. Another note: I also offer classes on other areas of English GCSE, specifically content from the literature papers, if you intend to book a group of lessons, but want to mix and match the topics, this is fine, just let me know upon booking.

An Inspector Calls is an important part of the GCSE English Literature Specification for all of those who have chosen to learn it, Being able to understand the book and the complex commentaries made on socety is crucial to be able to perform at a higher level in GCSEs. In ths class, I will talk the student through the book (A pdf link can be provided on request) and will guide the student through making notes, memorising important quotesand themes as well as supporting the devlopment of essay writing skills. Note: I aim to begin lessons in Early July but am happy to answer questions and possibly do some starter sessions for interested students and parents. Another note: I also offer other classes targeted at different areas of the AQA English Lit specification - if you plan on booking lessons in groups but want a mixture of the different topics, this will be fine just let me know when you book!
