I am an experienced, engaging and versatile tutor of English Literature, Language, Creative Writing and Poetry. I have a BA in English Literature from Aberystwyth University, an MA in Critical Theory and Creative Writing from Sussex University, and a PhD in Critical Theory and Literature, also from Sussex. I am friendly and supportive, and work with a broad range of abilities and ages. I have tutored GCSE and A-level pupils at State schools across the UK, as well as students at independent schools such as Marlborough College, Bedales, Charterhouse and Hurtwood House. For five years I was also writer in residence at Hurtwood House. Previously, I taught English Literature and Critical Theory at Sussex University, and Creative Writing and Performance Skills at Brighton University. I frequently go into schools and colleges to run one-off enrichment sessions, and have developed standalone programmes for youth centres, arts centres, theatres and creative writing retreats. Whether you are looking for some help catching up after an absence, you need ongoing support with English Literature/Language/Creative Writing, or you’re just looking for some guidance and feedback on a particular essay/writing project I will be happy to help! Irma
Irma is a great teacher. Everything is well organized in each session. We have fun during the class, so learning dutch with her is not boring. She pays extra attention to the pronunciation and corrects me when I'm wrong. This is very helpful to learn the pronunciation correctly from the beginning since changing it later needs much more effort. Irma is also very flexible with timing and content of the course. I am completely happy with my private classes.

Hiyam
We are absolute beginners and Mrs. Hiyam made it super easy for us to dive in the lessons and in just 3 lessons we learned half of the alphabet and pronounciation. Now I can read most of the signs in the street. We will continue learning with her. We are new in Riyadh and she was so kind to come to our house to teach us. She is very sweet and smart! You will not regret any minute with her .
