My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes. However, if you lack a passion for music or the instrument itself, I advise against pursuing it. As a beginner, the most significant transformation has been in my self-awareness about my own voice and its potential. I started last year, and we scheduled classes once a week for several months. Rapidly she became my singing sensei, is basically a vocal wizard in disguise! Her excellent ear, proficiency in playing the piano, and powerful voice made the lessons both enjoyable and instructive. The relaxed, trusting, and fun atmosphere she cultivated during our sessions fostered creativity and promoted relaxation.
