A little about me: Born and raised in Hong Kong, my musical journey began at the age of five when I first picked up the violin. With the support of dedicated instructors, I built a strong foundation in technical precision and musical sensitivity, setting the stage for my future achievements. At the age of eight, I had the privilege of studying under Mr. Ngai Ho-Chau, the former concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. His mentorship not only refined my skills but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for musical expression and the value of diligent practice. Driven by a desire to reach new heights, I earned my LTCL Diploma with Distinction from Trinity London College at eighteen, a milestone reflecting countless hours of dedication. This achievement motivated me to further deepen my understanding of the instrument. Seeking new perspectives, I pursued advanced studies under the renowned violin maestro Mr. Hwang Wei-Ming at Taiwan SooChow University. There, I immersed myself in the art of violin technique, interpretation, and performance, gaining invaluable experience collaborating with talented musicians. Over the years, I received scholarships to study violin at Taiwan SooChow University and California Baptist University. These opportunities enriched my musical experiences and allowed me to perform in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. My journey includes performances with ensembles such as the Hong Kong Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Hong Kong Pro-Arte Orchestra, Taiwan SooChow University Orchestra, and Taiwan Rong-Shing Chamber Orchestra, among others. These experiences continue to inform my approach to teaching, allowing me to provide my students with practical insights and real-world performance techniques. Previously, I taught GCSE Music at Hollingworth Academy and provided violin instruction at The Hathershaw College and Radclyffe School, where I developed a holistic and student-centered teaching approach tailored to each learner's unique needs and goals. Currently, I am dedicated to teaching SEND students at The Peak School, where I strive to create a supportive and calming environment. I often incorporate live violin performances to help my students relax and connect with music on a deeper level. Additionally, I work with private violin students, including young musicians from Manchester High School for Girls and Withington Girls’ School, as well as those preparing for music scholarship auditions at prestigious institutions like London Westminster School. Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Manchester-based artist Emma for her exhibition, Monton in Bloom. This opportunity allowed me to share my music in a creative and inspiring setting.

I have developed a method that adapts to each student according to their needs, levels and desires. I attach great importance to creating a caring and relaxed atmosphere where the student can flourish and develop both a solid technique and learn self-confidence. We will also discuss how to work efficiently and calmly and we will develop the qualities necessary to express yourself freely with your instrument. After studying violin and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith, Master Classes with Dorothy DeLay, chamber music with Leslie Parnas and Burton Fine, as well as other Juilliard teachers and studies with Robert Soetens in France, I have been fortunate to enjoy over twenty years of teaching violin, viola and piano students. I am currently teaching in Central Florida as well as online through my Unique Musicality curriculum business. My initial studio experience began during my education at New England Conservatory, where I began teaching young students in the Boston area. Later, I was able to give master classes, private and group lessons in France and Asia as a member of touring orchestras. I currently teach lessons as well as providing master classes for select students and organizations. For the past two summers, I was a coach and performer at the Assisi Performing Arts Chamber Music Festival in Assisi, Italy. I have also been a judge in various Youth Symphony competitions as well as civic organizations that hold music competitions, such as the Kiwanis Club Arts and Music competition. My students have achieved entrance into summer conservatory programs including Peabody’s Music Summer Camp, Emory University’s Atlanta Chamber Music Festival, Franklin Pond Summer Intensive Chamber music program, Assisi Italy Performing Arts Chamber Music Festival, as well as continuing their college studies at Music Schools and Conservatories.

Violin and Viola lessons 🎻 with a professional teacher for all ages and levels (Amsterdam)
Fermin
I studied the violin for about 2 months with Fermin and I have grown much in my knowledge of not just how to play but how to think when playing. Fermin has also helped a lot with technical struggles allowing me to break through some of the challenges that were bothering me for a long time. He is a very patient teacher but he will not hesitate to stop you and correct you (as any good teacher would) if you are not playing correctly. I personally requested that he gives me honest feedback which really helped me play better tecnically and musically. I believe he will be open to adapting his strictness upon specific requests. The time difference (Fermin being in Spain and I being in the US) has not been easy but Fermin was very willing to bend his schedule and provided several time slots to accommodate my availability. To sum up, if you are looking for a teacher that is patient in character yet unrelenting toward the goal of fully tapping your potential both musically and tecnically, I would recommend you take a lesson with Fermin.

My private violin lesson with Ester was absolutely perfect. I had a privilege to hear Ester play her violin and she is so good- it is crazy to think I was able to learn from her. She is also such a good teacher. Full of knowlege and patience- which is, in my opinion, a rare combination. I had no prior musical education and this was my first real music lesson. Ester managed to teach me basic note reading, correct violin holding and even playing my first tunes. Her explainations are very clear and easy to understand. And her approach is very friendly. She is also a very nice person and easy to talk to. I wish we lived in the same city so I could keep studying playing violin with Ester- that's how good she is. Lidia

I am extremely pleased with the lessons Paula gaves. I feel extremely lucky to have met her and to be able to be taught by her. She is a very nice and kind person, very open and knows how to communicate well. She gives great advice, is really attentive, plays amazingly and every lesson with her is just pure joy. She really makes it easy and very understandable for everyone, even someone like me, who didn't know how to play violin at all.
