Trusted teacher: I give lessons of Russian to children and adults alike. At all levels. Russian is my mother tongue. I lived, studied and worked in Russia for the most part of my life. Besides, I studied Russian on a university level, because my first degree was in linguistics. Every student is a story. We all differ in how we digest information, how we make sense of it, how we interpret it. Hence, education is at its best when it considers the student and his (her) story. This is where I come in. Offering individualized, customized solutions is where I excel. I have never believed in mass education. It penalizes students who need a personal approach. This also explains why there is no one correct approach. Memories (synapses) form through repetition. So, to build vocabulary and improve comprehension, it is necessary to read and listen a lot. And to repeat. The most important thing is to choose topics that interest the student. When such a topic exists, the learning will not only be useful but also interesting. I use a full arsenal of different teaching methods, which include: - PPP (Presentation Practice Production); - TPR (Total Physical Response); - BDA (Before, During, After); - CBL (Context-based learning) and - TBL (Task-Based Learning). It always depends on the student, the time available and his (her) objectives. News and dialogue are among my favorite teaching tools. News is rich in active verbs and essential nouns. And dialogues are rich in functions that native speakers use in everyday life. Plus, together, they make a brilliant mix of formal and informal speech. I make most of the learning materials myself. My dialogues are rich in scenes and in language used.
