Trusted teacher: I offer online or face-to-face English lessons to non-native speakers. I work with the student to identify learning objectives and any areas of weakness and tailor the lesson accordingly. Areas covered during the lesson include, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar accent reduction. I currently live in Den Haag, The Netherlands. In addition to private coaching, I also work for an online ESL company delivering English lessons to children across a range of age groups. In addition, I also work as an ESL proofreader and IELTS private tutor here in The Hague. I hold a BA (Hons) degree and have a CELTA qualification. Prior to a career in ESL English teaching, I worked in the UK national press for the Times and Financial Times newspapers. It was there I developed my proofreading and communications skills. In my spare time, I write articles for magazines and have had feature stories published in The Telegraph magazine, The Daily Mail and a number of health magazines. I have also written two language books. The first, 'I Already Speak Speak French!' is an illustrated book for children that covers the etymology of many English words to their French origin (attached is a sample of it for your interest!). It has been translated for the French market into, 'I Already Speak English!' The second book is called, 'Learn Business English FAST!' which draws on a teaching methodology used for effective, fast learning that I used whilst teaching English for the international company, GoFluent.

Trusted teacher: I am a professional singer, pianist and music teacher. From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college and universities I have also learned classical voice, choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies, speech training, continued my piano practice. 2015 — 2019 R.Glier Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music Junior specialist in Choir conducting 2020 — 2023 P.Chubynskyi Kyiv Municipal Academy of Arts Bachelor in Solo singing 2022 — Present HMDK Stuttgart Bachelor of classical singing My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. As for singer who studied a lot about different approaches, technics and singing schools "Speech Training" was a part of the main subjects. It is extremely important to have clear pronunciation, make it sound free/relaxed (without any tension or unhealthy blocks) more confident, and emotional. On our Speech training lessons I will help you to make your speech more clear, your voice will sound more healthy and confident.

Trusted teacher: Are you studying at university and considering a carrier in law or public policy? Or are you in school and looking for a way to stand out in your university applications? Or maybe you already are a member of your local debating/mooting society or of a MUN and just would like some help? Debating (or mooting in the legal sphere) is a way of orally presenting and defending arguments on a set topic. To do well, a participant needs a range of skills - from being able to speak clearly and concisely to being able to quickly analyse the argument of the opposing side and come up with a counter in a matter of minutes. Debating takes a lot of intelligence and a lot of preparation, but there is no better feeling than the triumph of having defended your position with facts and logic. In this class, I will take you through all the basics of debating. For example, we will talk about (and practice) how to effectively introduce, explain and defend a position as well as what to do when presented with a dissenting view. I will explain, using the exercises I designed while teaching debating internationally, what makes a strong argument, introducing you to the world of logics. I will also use my experience participating in and coaching teams for debating competitions such as the prestigious international Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot to teach you to think like a debater and to captivate the attention of judges and other listeners with impeccable advocate-like presentation manner, outperforming the opposition both on content and on style. Would you like to become a pro debater? Then contact me today!

ABOUT ME My name’s Tom and I’m an English teacher from Southeast England, based in the Hague, Netherlands. I teach English speakers how to communicate more clearly. I have taught for various schools and agencies in the Netherlands and been frustrated by the lack of high-quality teaching materials and expertise among teachers of English pronunciation. So in 2021 I set up my freelance teaching business to change the situation. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, and I have a master's degree in Linguistics from Leiden University, with a specialisation in English Linguistics, Phonetics and Speech Processing. I am trained in speech analysis software, a highly effective tool that I use to help learners not only hear but also visualise their mistakes. In my spare time, I study and learn languages. I can speak Mandarin, Finnish and a smattering of many others. Currently I am learning Japanese and Dutch. I have the technical, academic, and practical skills to help you improve your accent.

Charlotte

Charlotte is a superb instructor. I took classes with her at her home for several months to improve my public speaking skills. During each session, Charlotte helped me work on my tone and delivery through various public speaking exercises. Charlotte asked me to prepare short written assignments before our meetings, so that I could practice delivering my script using various speaking techniques during the class. For these assignments, Charlotte was very engaged and made sure that the assignments would assist me in my specific professional goals. She did this by tailoring the subject matter to my professional work - mostly legal and political matters - and she pushed me to consider what I wanted to achieve from my audience with each speaking opportunity. Charlotte, however, is not only a skilled professional. She is also a tremendously kind, energetic and dynamic person to work with. She made me feel comfortable sharing my vulnerabilities, which made the process of receiving constructive feedback a fun and welcomed experience. She encouraged me to practice my public speaking in French - which is not my first language - and made me feel at ease. She is kind, understanding and an incredibly nice person. If you are looking for a professional who is dedicated to helping you improve, welcomes your goals and ideas, and who is a pleasure to meet with each week - then look no further than Charlotte.

Melinda is an excellent tutor and I've been completely satisfied by our clases. Melinda took care to understand my learning objectives before structuring are classes around natural conversation, reading, writing, and pronunciation. In particular, she prepares good (and interesting!) learning resources - Including new articles, film clips, and customised exercise sheets. While she speaks English fluently, she manages to teach in a clear and patient manner, meaning she rarely needs to switch to English to explain concepts. Beyond her talents as a teacher, she's incredibly friendly and personable. She's also shown a lot of flexibility regarding class scheduling. For reference to future students: I am a native English speaker learning French as a second language. I had an OK grasp of basic French before starting classes, but lacked both familiarity with grammar and confidence in speaking. I've had several lessons with Melinda and have experienced a clear improvement in my level and I will continue on a regular basis.

Cheslava did not waste a moment of time and found her rhythm with my son very quickly. There was an amazing sense of grace and patience in her tone, yet there was a firm bit of direction that moved the lesson in a clear direction. As a particular detail, I very much appreciated the moments that she asked my son about his experience throughout, and encouraged him to describe every degree of his challenges which I believe teaches him to go beyond the impact of his feelings but to technically observe weaknesses to improve them. It was a sincere honor and privilege to receive her lesson and we will certainly be looking forward to being taught by her again. 👑
