Improve your musical creativity with personalised classes from multi-Instrumentalist singer and improviser

Do you wish to learn writing music from scratch or improve your composition skills without a necessity of music theory knowledge? Do you want to produce your own music but struggle with the technical aspects?

I'm a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and performer and I offer applied classes on writing/arranging/producing pieces of music using various instruments of your choice, including your computer. I use a 'learning by creating' method, where we focus and go deeper on certain aspects depending on your needs on your music creation process. I like to use personalised methods that matches your desires, rather than following a certain curriculum. The goal is to help you gain or improve awareness on how a piece of music is written and learn various ways to begin and finalise a writing process.

During our practices, I will naturally be transferring my knowledge on certain aspects such as:

    - Rhythm
    - Form
    - Dynamics
    - Texture
    - Melody making
    - Singing
    - Guitar playing
    - Placing words into music/making music around words
    - Improvisation as a compositional tool
    - Integration of Ableton Live into creative process
    - Recording
    - Mixing

During the sessions, we'll either write together from scratch or work on your own material and tackle the issues of constructing a piece of music. Please contact me if interested, then we will have a first video call where we get to meet each other and discuss where you stand and your wishes. This way I can create a personalised program that suits your level and speaks to your area of interest.

    Extra information

    About Me

I'm a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter, performer and music instructor. I write and perform music for almost a decade, both solo and in collaboration with various artists from different backgrounds.

My ultimate objective is to facilitate and engage individual and collective experiences leading to progress and evolution in all aspects of life using variety of skills in a musical landscape. By instructing private classes and group workshops, I manage to share my experience and vision in making music to the ones with passion to music and in need of a mediator towards original creativity.

I enjoy working with younger people a lot. I'm always excited to help them enlarge their vision on the world of sounds and also getting inspired by their fresh ideas. It is a great pleasure to witness a young talent creating their own musical character and putting their ideas out to the world by making use of the education they get from me.

Collaborating is one of my favourite things to do as an artist, as well as an instructor. In my group workshops I enjoy creating music together with the other people, while helping them improve their skills and enlarge their vision. When I teach private classes to adults, I approach it as a collaborative creation process and use a 'learn while you create' method, where we work on musical material together and challenge any obstacle getting on the way of my student's creative process.

    Education

Master of Music Design at HKU Music & Technology:

I've focused on composition, performance, sound design and music education during my two year master education. I specialised on the approach 'improvisation as a tool for composition', which I often apply in both my creative processes and in educational environments.

    Experience / Qualifications

I took part of many music groups as a singer, drummer, guitarist, bassist and percussionist, with different styles of music. In my solo project Yank; I compose, arrange, produce, record and perform my own songs.

I'm a member of Amsterdam based vocal improvisation ensemble Genetic Choir, where we explore the limits of human voice and use it to create instant compositions.

I also work a lot on sound design and electro-acoustic production using the computer as an instrument.
Do you want to learn the basics of Ableton Live, or improve your skills on it, or wish to develop advanced techniques to better use it as a compositional and performative tool? I'm here to help! I'm a songwriter and performer, producing and performing music using Live for over a decade. I've been working on Live as my main DAW for recording, editing, arranging and mixing. Depending on your needs, our classes could be more technical about how to best use all the features of Live, but could also be focussed on using Live as a creative tool for your productions.

Singing lessons in English for all levels by professional voice teacher, vocal coach and singer
I'm a former New York City voice teacher/coach, professional singer and an award winning composer who has relocated to Berlin. I've taught with the most reputable children's musical theatre organizations in NYC with students of all ages as well as private students and I've worked with Broadway stars such as Laura Osnes, Karen Mason and Ron Bohmer, who have also recorded my music, and I'm excited to bring my 20 yrs of teaching experience to Berlin! I teach songwriting as well, if that is something you're interested in. I'm a classically trained singer who performed with the San Francisco Opera and other companies both in opera and musical theatre for many years. Though I specialize now in musical theatre, I am happy and comfortable teaching you to sing in whatever style you prefer. The basics are the same! In our lessons, we will work on breath, correct vowel pronunciation, placement, diction, etc... as well as getting rid of the tension and habits that keep us from singing freely and beautifully. We will also work on the musical and dramatic aspects of the material we choose together, so that you will feel comfortable at an audition or a performance. And I keep lessons fun so that you can both learn and progress each week AND enjoy yourself! Whether just starting out or a professional who needs help working on an audition or role, I can help you reach your goals!

Drumming and how to make your drums fit a composition
Drums, as with bass guitar are the backbone of any good song, and the foundation upon which the music is built. Despite not being as famous as lead vocals or lead guitar. Drums in my opinion is much more fun, at all levels of performance. I will teach you how to play the drums, how to fit the style to the genre and we will learn by practice by breaking down the famous classics, and explain what part drums played to make these classics so good. We will use my electronic drumset, which is not as good as the real thing but is definitely good for starters. There are ways you can practice at home without a drumset as well. And we can expand later and rent a studio room, where I can jam with you on the guitar even!

Violin lessons for everyone! From conservatoire graduate
Hi my name is Anne. I play the violin and the viola and I have studied at the conservatory at ArtEZ Jazz & Pop. During my studies I started to build by violin teacher practice. Apart from my private students I taught at the music school "Muziekdorp" in Wijchen and coached a band of high school students for a year. Next to teaching I play concerts with the "Metropole Academy", I have a string quartet "The Four Frogs in te Woods", and I'm playing in a Folk string duo. Students of all ages and categories are welcome in my lesson. Classical, Folk, Rock, Pop, Jazz, and free improvisation are some of the genres you can discover in our lessons. I did a Teacher Training with the American Violinist Mark O'Connor and finished this training with a diploma. His method is a very beautiful and comprehensive way to learn the variety of the violinistic possibilities. We will play a lot of music together. Starting with a correct violin posture you will develop a brought variety of techniques to find your own style. Being able to play an instrument is an enrichment for everyone! I would be happy to meet you. Anne

Piano Lessons by Award Winning Film Music Composer
I am an Award Winning Film Music Composer of Short and Feature Length films with distribution on platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Sky as well as official selection in over 40 International and Academy Award Qualifying Film Festivals, including Cannes, Hell’s Half Mile (Michigan, US), Los Angeles International Shorts, FilmQuest and Urbanworld (New York, US). My soundtracks are distributed on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc) and feature scores composed for electronics, Full Orchestra, small ensembles and genres like 20th Century Orchestral, Minimalism, Motown, Avant Garde, Musique Concrete and many more. As your piano tutor, I want to teach you how I learnt piano, and show you how to be creative with music, at the very least for enjoyment, but also for any professional aspirations into composition. I start by familiarising my students with the fundamentals of music at the piano, how the piano is structured, arpeggios, baselines, chord sequences, melody sequences, etc. We take these fundamentals and build sophistication of musicality with a dynamic curriculum. Lessons are structured by familiarising with musical concepts by a demonstration, playing together, and playing solo in a way that aims to be accessible and sensitive to the student’s sensibilities.

Guitar/Music/Composition Lessons in Berlin (All ages and all levels welcome!)
Hello! Alright, I'll break it down into parts. If you look for a more "narrowed description" just scroll down to where I made a list :) My name is Francisco, and I'm a guitar player from Argentina, currently living in Berlin. I am very enthusiastic about teaching and sharing the energy to grow musically with my students. I have taught music for 7 years in schools and privately at home. With private lessons, my aim is to adjust to the student's likes and abilities. I am attentive to the needs and the reasons why someone is wanting to play and learn music. And I try to encourage the curiosity and spirit of making music and not follow what is "considered" that you should learn. What to expect from the first lesson with me? To get to know each other. That way I see what you like and what you don't, what you already play, and your learning pace. Probably I can share with you something new already, and from there, we will build a "program" according to what you want your rhythm and time availability. I value singularity and I like to get to know who I teach, so that way I can help them better. It can be first chords and ways of learning new songs, improvisational tools, or pure harmony and theory stuff. Because everyone is different, for example, if you like Rock I will go in that direction and teach you the elements that make Rock sound like it does and I won't teach you Jazz Harmony, if you like Classical music we will go over the abilities that you have to have to execute this kind of music, the same goes for the styles that I play. My skills: I play and have played mainly Fingerstyle Guitar, Jazz, Argentine Tango, Jazz Manouche, Rock, Rockabilly, and Experimental. I have worked a lot playing Bossa Nova at some point. I don't like teaching something that I don't know. So for example, oriental music I couldn't teach. And if we come to a point where I am not helpful anymore, I will say so. What I do like is learning with students, it is often the case that your students teach you new ways of thinking about music and I find that super exciting! I was lucky to travel a bit of the world playing music with different projects and musicians that I admire, I always did this playing mainly Jazz music. I have played in bars and clubs and theaters in New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, and in different cities around Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland. I was also part of several orchestras (Jazz, Tango, and Rock) in Argentina and the US. I teach beginner - intermediate - advanced levels of different topics: - how to improve technique (right hand and left hand) - how to improvise (elements of improvisation, vocabulary, phrasing, etc.) - how to visualize the fretboard - how to learn songs by ear, and how to read music (or tab) - how harmony and music theory work - specific genres such as Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Bossa Nova, Tango, Rock, and Fingerstyle. The lessons can be also in German (basic, so you might need a bit of patience with me!), Spanish (that's my mother tongue), or English. They can be at my place (Wedding), all corona safe, or online via Zoom/Skype. Shoot me a message if you are interested! All the best, Francisco

Professional Workshops - Dj Classes on CDJs / Turntables / Controller - Ableton, Rekordbox, Traktor, Mixing, Loops, Cues, etc
I'm a DJ, producer, and composer. I've been making music since I was very young. I specialised in electronic music quite early on and now make it my profession. I also compose music for different types of media such as commercials, video game music, etc. Passionate about DJing above all else, it's behind the decks that I get my kicks the most, and I'd be delighted to pass on my passion! I have my own style of music, but would be more than happy to adapt to yours for learning purposes. --- I perform regularly in Berlin in clubs such as Watergate, Sisyphos, Hoppetosse, RSO, Golden Gate, etc., as well as abroad, most recently in Belgrade, London, Amsterdam, Paris, etc. --- About the course: Sessions last 1 or 2 hours, depending on your needs, and can be done in groups of 2-3 people. It's friendly, less expensive, more dynamic in terms of learning and interesting because you get to observe another student practicing, which leads to questions and realisations. . The course can also be done in 1-1 if you're more at ease solo, and for more effective learning centred on you and your pace. I'll give you the keys to finding your own sound/style, discovering new music (dig), organising your libraries, preparing your sets/tracklists and setting up an efficient and intuitive music management system. Classes take place in my studio where there are 2 CDJs and 2 vinyl decks. During the course we'll also cover the theory, values and precepts of this art form, as well as techniques and tricks for using and creating your own mixes. --- 📍 My studio is located in Kreuzberg __ Of course, don't hesitate if you have any practical or technical questions. I am looking forward to playing music with you. Alex

The Elements of Musical Composition with a Composer-Conductor
Are you an aspiring composer? In my Elements of Musical Composition class, we’ll explore both the traditional elements of rhythm, pitch, color, etc., but also the elements of musical poetry. You will not only learn how to craft music but also how to use constraints to create a cohesive and consistent musical language. We will also explore the idea of paradox in your compositions, encouraging you to blend contrasting elements to add depth and complexity to your work. Through the analysis of exemplary works, the composition of miniatures, and feedback on your current projects, you’ll both increase your technical fluency and simultaneously learn to love and develop your unique voice. This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced musicians who want to deepen their understanding of composition, whether you're a budding composer or an experienced musician seeking to enhance your creative skills. Join me on this journey of exploration, and let’s bring your musical ideas to life!
