Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. Normally I use the Faber Piano Adventures method, useful for all ages and levels, but another method can be chosen depending on the learning style of each student.
