I am a student of French and Italian mother tongue, I obtained a bac in LANGUAGES in Rome and I obtained the C1 certificate in English in 2019, because I had the opportunity to study at the abroad in 2018 and 2019, in Scotland and Canada. The class will be structured in the following way: a first theorical part, focused on the topics, rules, grammar explanation and vocabulary as well. The second part will cover exercises, chosen from several resources, centered on the topics just learnt and on previous ones, if necessary. The class aims at helping the student/adult find his own best method for studying and learning new languages, especially if attending the school. The last part will be conversation that will foster fluency and pronounciation.

Hello, My name is Giorgia. I hold a PhD in Italian from the Department of Romance Studies at UNC-University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also hold a Ph.D. in Contemporary Philosophy focusing on Italian and French Aesthetics. I worked for fifteen years as a translator from French into Italian. My academic research is interdisciplinary and combines literary criticism and philosophy. My research interests include the relationship between contemporary Italian and French literature, the Italian and French avant-garde movements in literature and film, and the interactions between literature, philosophy, the arts, and film. For seven years, I have taught Italian at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, and also taught a course on Italian cinema. In my teaching, I strive to contribute to improving conversational fluency, refining writing skills, and enriching vocabulary. Through contributions on art, history, politics, daily life, cinema, and Italian literature, I invite students to experience the complexity and richness of Italian culture and language. In addition to being my mother tongue, Italian is a language I love and enjoy teaching. My experience teaching Italian has allowed me to experiment with many different teaching methods, find my own unique teaching style, and, above all, develop teaching activities that have proven very effective with students from the United States, France, and many other countries. My courses are aimed at all students who wish to master spoken and written Italian, those who want to pass the Agrégation and/or CAPES Italian exams, but also those who wish to cultivate the study of Italian to progress even simply in conversation. As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing. Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing. We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis. We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them. In the second part of the lesson, we will apply all of the above to the singing!

I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments. Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading.
