Bonjour Bonjour; You're maybe planning to travel to France for Business or for vacations...Or you just want to learn French for Academic or professional reasons! My name is Hicham (Here the French spelling of my first name make it sound "HiTChem" in English speaking countries - which i find awful to hear :) so the exact spelling to pronounce it right should be Heesham). And this is the perfect example that Pronounciation is one of the most important matter in French learning; not only for you to be able to understand French words and learn them, but also and mostly to be able to be understood when you speak them. Just like it's hard to understand a new english speaker with a strong foreign accent Imagine: "Un ver vert va vers un verre vert". Which means that a green worm is going towards a green glass. This doesn't make any sense but it illustrates what we call Homonymes. The word homonyme comes from Latin, more specifically as "Homos" (similar) and "onoma" (name). And it get more complicated when Homophones have the same pronounciation but not the same meaning nor the same spelling. Or worst; "Homographes" which are written the same spelling but complete different meaning and pronounciation. And finally the most tricky ones are the perfect Homonymes like:" un TOUR de magie" and la TOUR d'un chateau. (Magic trick and Castle Tower)... I am able to provide tutoring lessons for English speaking students on an intermediate level as well as beginning classes for individuals who are only starting off with the language. As I am full language proficiency in English I am also able to teach grammar and essay writing. The classes are going to be interactive. At the beginner level, we will be learning to read, write and focus on the grammar. At an intermediate level, we will be focused more on analysis, essay writing tips, the structure of writing. Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
