Multiple musical skills: exploring the oud, law and music science

An experienced graduate in music theory and oud/lute, I offer you a method which will allow you not only to learn to play the lute/oud, but also to decipher scores and improvise independently of the teacher afterwards. Each course will be based on theoretical notions and instrumental applications. The apprentice has the choice of doing oud sessions only, music theory only, or both at the same time.

Making music is easy, all you need is time, passion, an instrument within reach, at home, at school or at work...all you need is sometimes a friend, parent or loved one plays it to influence us and make us want to learn and progress.... All this is beautiful, normal since music is beautiful and can only generate BEAUTY in its grooves! However, what makes all the difference between a budding artist, a creator, a composer and finally a simple student learning but not progressing very far along the path, or getting angry, stopping after a few months of practice....c It's musical SENSITIVITY and the ART of letting yourself be carried, transported to finally bring good, real music. In our approach to the guitar we do not only insist on general theoretical knowledge or specific to the instrument itself, ..., we try to forge in the practitioner a whole cerebral-auditory, emotional and kinesthetic instrumentation articulated around the contact with the instrument, understanding then apprehension and finally restitution (each has its own way) classical, Spanish music and finally (at a relatively advanced level...Flamenco).

I offer to accompany you in what you wish to practice: - Discovering the instrument with exercises and warm-ups, right hand techniques (plectrum or mediator) and left hand. I pay particular attention to gesture and posture, to relaxation for comfortable playing and quality sound. - We can of course learn pieces that you choose, or pieces that I suggest, with or without sheet music. - I can help develop improvisation if that's something you're interested in. - Theory in relation to practice, tones, modes, intervals, harmony... - And others according to demand. My classes are aimed at beginners as well as more advanced students who want to enrich their palette of expressiveness and musicality. It is important for me to offer caring support and listen to the needs of the student.

As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing. Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing. We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis. We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them. In the second part of the lesson, we will apply all of the above to the singing!
