Teaching International Humanitarian Law at 2 Levels; Intermediate - Advanced

I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. I am capable of teaching and lecturing on numerous historical and political events and periods in history, with myself having specialized in European history, American history, African history, as well as the Medieval period and Antiquity.

I have studied at Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard. I completed my undergraduate Law degree, my Masters and a scholarship programme at each, respectively. I use my expertise to directly assist my students to achieve all of their goals. For this reason, I have a very high success rate. History and Political Science are intertwined subjects with multidisciplinary approaches. To study one of these, one must understand the other. I offer classes that teach either of the two subjects, as well as both (if required) with aspect to the other. How often have we wondered about historical events with respect to Politics? Do we know that the Romanovs were related to the British Royal Family and how their brutal killings was shaped by geopolitics of the era, or how Hitler's death was a highly controversial political debate? You see how history and politics cannot be separated. It is also undeniable that having knowledge of the two subjects can help you achieve higher marks and credits, as well as a deeper understanding and passion for the subjects.

This course introduces students to the essential legal concepts that underpin business operations, focusing on the laws of USA, UK, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and the broader Gulf region. We will explore various areas of business law, including contract formation, employment regulations, corporate governance, and intellectual property rights. Students will gain insights into different forms of companies, such as sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies (LLCs), and corporations, along with how these structures operate within the legal frameworks of the Gulf countries. Additionally, we will examine the unique aspects of Gulf law, including regulatory requirements specific to the region and the impact of local customs and practices on business operations. The course will also cover the specific legal environments of the UAE and Qatar, focusing on their commercial laws, free trade zones, and investment regulations, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of how these factors influence business strategy and operations. Through engaging lectures and interactive case studies, students will learn to navigate legal issues that arise in the business world and understand the implications of laws on everyday business decisions. The course will cover dispute resolution methods, such as negotiation and mediation, equipping students with practical skills for managing conflicts. History is what connects the present to the past and helps us to predict the future. In my class, you will learn modern european history, in particular the history of Germany from 1918 to 1989. You will be taught by a world class teacher that has studied European history to a high level, gaining an A in the subject. The key aspects of the history of Germany will be broken down into manageable chunks for students to understand more easily. The classes are delivered through interactive learning consisting of kahoot quizes, powerpoint slides and asking questions to students. By making these classes fun and engaging, my aim is for students to always come away learning something they did not know before. All students of any age are welcome to join this class. My requirement for this class is for students to ask as many questions as possible because no question is a bad question, we are all here to learn!

For any A-level students who are looking for further help with politics, we can focus on one module per session and hone in on the theory of it and ensure the student knows examples. Additionally to this, come exam season we can practice how to write essays. As a former politics A-level student i know overwhelming the subject could be, so my role would be to help organise and go through the course.

My name is Christian and I am a qualified solicitor back in my home country of New Zealand.I've recently moved to London and before I embark on my next professional adventure, I thought it might be a nice time to give back some of the knowledge I've collected over my studies and professional experience. I took great satisfaction when I helped my younger brother during his legal studies (and even more so when I admitted him to become a lawyer). I spent many years trying to grasp what the law is, how to write a 'legal opinion', how to write 'like a lawyer' - even how to 'think like a lawyer'. Surprisingly, all thise things are actually quite helpful even if you don't want to become a lawyer. Understanding the law can help you know your rights better, it can help you solve problems more logically, it can help you write more concisely and more persuasively. Anywhere you go or whatever you want to do, somewhere along the line the law will be involved - if ever so slightly. And the best part is, there is always more to learn! Even the finest judges, or the most distinguished King's Counsel don't know everything about the law (although they;d be pretty bloody close).
