Vocal Lessons in Rotterdam or Den Haag / BA Jazz Music (Vocals) / MA Music Therapy / Orff Schulwerk Approach for Children

Hello!
My name is Karolina and I am a professional singer, as well as an upcoming music therapist. I studied Jazz Music at Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen and at the moment I am completing my Master studies in Music Therapy at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Enschede, The Netherlands. I also hold a degree of the Orff Approach (Orff Schulwerk), a developmental approach used in music education, which combines music, movement, and speech and it is a great approach for children 4-8 years old.
I specialize in jazz and Brazilian repertoire, but I also teach Greek folk singing.

The lessons are designed according to the needs of each student. Some of the focusing areas are listed below:

1. Vocal Technique:
We focus on vocal technique elements such as breath control, vocal range, the use of all registers, and timbres of
your voice. The goal is to sing effortlessly. With the vocal technique, you will get the chance to explore your voice
and build confidence in your voice.

2. Repertoire:
Together we can build your repertoire step by step and focus on the phrasing of each style. You will choose the
repertoire you like and you can always ask for advice in case you want to explore new musical styles. A great time
of enjoyment during classes where you will be singing your heart out!

3. Improvisation:
Vocal improvisation is a great way to explore the voice and also express your feelings. It will also boost your
creativity and musicality. Specific exercises can also guide you through this process step by step and in that way
we will explore vocal improvisation.

FOR CHILDREN (4-8 years old):

I am specialized in music education for children 4-8 years old. Using the Orff Approach children will have a great creative time for themselves where they learn music by using their whole body. Experiencing and learning music through playing!
Suggested Duration for Lessons for Children: 30-45min depending on the age.

I am looking forward to starting an inspiring musical journey with you!

Karolina

Vocal and music theory lessons - breathing - posture
We will find your needs together and start working from that point. You can come with no experience at all and I will help you to explore and develop your voice. It's also not important if you cannot read music, I can help you with that as well. If you are already a singer, we will work in order to refine your technique. Voice, breathing, and posture are connected and fundamental for a healthy technique so we will also work on that while we focus on your voice. Singing can be very personal and confronting but do not fear, we work in a safe environment. Let yourself be surprised with what you can achieve!! The lesson can be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian.

Yorgos
Guitar lessons for all ages and musical styles in Delfshaven.
Hey there! My name is Yorgos and I am a guitar performer and instructor. Originating from Greece I embarked on musical journey to the Netherlands because of its reach musical scene. For the past eleven years I have been pursuing my musical career in the city of Rotterdam and have been teaching in various musical styles and ages. At the age of fourteen, I picked up a guitar, and two decades later, it feels like an extension of my soul. With over twenty years of experience strumming and shaping melodies, I’ve spent eleven of those years sharing my passion as a private instructor and performer. My musical journey has led me to teach a diverse range of students—from seven-year-olds to adults—covering everything from the pop and blues to the soulful depths of rock, jazz, funk, and folk. During my studies at the Royal Conservatory I learned the how work with the basics of the Kodaly solmisation system and In addition I taught ensemble lessons at the International School of The Hague. Further on, I got the opportunity to develop my knowledge on music theory, and gained experience with rhythmic, melodic solfège and sightreading. These are topics I always like to include in my lessons, because I find them very important not only for the personal growth of each musician, but also for the deeper connection they create between the musician and the instrument. Finally, even though I like incorporating all the elements mentioned above into my lessons I foremost focus on tailoring the lessons around the needs of every student and helping in any way I can their growth of musical curiosity. I am looking forward to hearing from you and exploring the vast and beautiful world of music together!

Improve your singing in this Quarantine! (online: skype, zoom, or another telecommunication)
Did you always wanted to improve your singing but you never had the time? If you're up for some creativity in this Quarantine weeks, I offer you singing classes through Skype. I suggest to work on 3 main aspects, which are divided into LEI (Learning, Exploring, Interpret + info below): - REPERTOIRE (Learning): Choose a song you love - TECHNIQUE (Exploring): Let's discover all you can do with your own instrument, your voice. I will give you some techniques to extend the possibilities in your Voice ('Embodied Voice', + info below) - INTERPRETATION (Interpret): there are infinite ways to transmit a song! More ways than humans on earth, because each one of us can do many interpretations of one single song. We will explore the different ways to learn a song. Singing is the oldest instrument we have, people sang while working, in gatherings, to their loved ones... but now days singing make people shy, make them lose confidence in their voice. That's why I want to offer some concrete tools that can help you to clearly understand what you feel when you sing and find the way in what you want to sing. I want that it feels good!! Singing cannot be suffering (like so many other things ... ) METHOD: Embodied Voice The voice, our instrument, is not only the vocal cords in our throat, but it is also your whole body and the energy you carry. If you move your arm while you're singing it will affect the sound, but also any emotion you feel. Let's embody your voice by singing while connecting: Emotion, Body, Mind, and Guts. MY OWN TRACK: Education: I am graduating this year on Jazz Vocals in Arnhem Artez Institute of Arts and Conservatory Liceu, Barcelona I have done several Feldenkrais courses with Ohad Natchmani which helped me to build up my own technique. Artistic: I am a singer and violinist in The Escarteen Sisters, the duo I have with my Sister. Pedagog: I worked for 6 years in Tallers de Música, a music school in Barcelona. I have experience in teaching people of different ages. And I also did private lessons. I love to teach and have this exchange of knowledge and experiences with the student. I also learn a lot. I can adapt to the needs of the student. I am flexible with dates and schedules. Tell me your needs and I will try my best to guide you.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
