In this class, you are going to learn the fundamentals of creating original music, including Music theory, Motif Development, Rhythm, Structure, Orchestration, and Music Notation. During our classes, we are also going to explore different musical genres, analyze and finally put them into practice.

This course is above all there to make you want to play bass, let it be fun! It will be based on the practice of the instrument, on the understanding and the role of the bass. The theory will be based on the progress of the practice. Step by step, practice and theory will thus be complementary, and will necessarily be useful! I will instruct students in the fundamental principles of free counterpoint—composition with melodic lines—with an emphasis on two-part writing and imitative counterpoint, based on my former Berklee College of Music training (alumni). We will apply the fundamental principles in practice and also examine the respective literature.

Les signes et les idées musicales qui se trouvent sur la partition, les mouvements respectifs de nos mains, les sons produits ensuite et entendus par nos oreilles forment un tout. C’est ce tout qui s’exprime comme musique, c'est-à-dire quelque chose de plus que ces éléments pris séparément. Comprendre ce rapport, c’est sentir plus nettement comment la musique nous touche et comment l’on peut toucher les autres avec la musique.

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. I have been giving private music lessons and fortepiano for a long time. In addition to my classical music education in 2000, I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychopedagogy in 2006. This year I am interested in expanding my practice to include more students with special needs. I learned about the different ways music can help students with special needs. It helps them express their emotions and develop their memories and self-regulatory skills. It can show them strengths that they might not otherwise find during their school day. It can also open their eyes to a whole world of expression and beauty, enriching their lives. I find out what works for a particular student, what distracts them, what motivates them, what helps them focus and sometimes just learn how to relate to them.
