Learn the basics of painting (Skills, Technique, Style)

Whether you have decided to pick up a new hobby during the COVID-19 induced lockdowns or you have just always been curious about picking up a new skill, painting is a liberating way to get creative!
I strongly believe that painting (and art in general) should be about the expression of yourself, in whatever way you feel like. However, a few tips and tricks to get you started and aide your artistic journey may go a long way! Thus this class is for anyone interested in getting to know the basics of painting: what materials should you use? How do you mix paints and colours to get a desired outcome? And for those struggling to decide on an object, an answer to 'what should I even paint?!'
As this is a very creative and subjective topic, the classes are tailored to the students' needs and wishes - so if you know nothing about painting, don't worry, we'll get you up to speed in no time!

Extra information

You will need to buy your own painting materials. If you need guidance, contact me prior to the first class so that I can provide some tips:)

About Me

Hi!:)
I am a young university student in Amsterdam and have lived in the Netherlands for the last three years. Originally I am German/Namibian, which is why both German and English are my native languages! I have however lived in many different countries, including Namibia, Malawi, Germany and The Netherlands.
I greatly enjoy interacting with people, and am considered a very kind and open person. Some of my hobbies include dancing, painting and basketball. I am curious about anything and everything, but I am currently studying international politics as that was what caught my attention the most :)
I look forward to helping you on your journey to learn the English or German language!

Saniah is really fantastic - my son (14.5 yrs) and I enrolled for '1-1' classes with her, mainly to improve our conversational fluency/ease (our main focus right now), and from even the first few minutes we immediately were at ease, feeling relaxed and open in trying and warming up our German. Saniah kept us challenged, yet not at a frustrating level, and thus very engaged, and was patient in correcting us and helping us to explore the interesting conversations that came up over the two hours of the lesson. Saniah is a very well informed and thoughtful person, with an international and well-travelled background, and we managed to cover a lot of ground exploring interesting and current topics; she also gave us great German book/movie recommendations, plus followed up with adding extra vocab lists and assignments if we wished. We have had only one lesson so far, but are very much looking forward to the next one - certainly exceeded expectations and very happy with the outcome.
Saniah is a very sweet and patient tutor. She is fun to learn with and really puts in the energy and time to make the student experience as best as possible. Definitely worth every cent and more, recommend 100%.
Have you always wondered how to write the perfect essay? Or perhaps, has the global pandemic caused your curriculum to be changed, and you now have to suddenly hand in a lot more term papers and other academic creations? Then this class is for you and can help improve your academic writing skills! There are plenty of tips and tricks out there, and I am here to help you not only learn about them but to put them to good practice. Be it referencing or expanding your vocabulary or improving the structures of your papers: it can all be learned! This class is preferably for a single student, however groups may apply as well. I intend to create a productive learning environment, whereby you as the student will be practicing a lot so that your progress is permanent and you can easily apply your new knowledge in class. You will also learn more about common mistakes you may be making and how you can easily avoid making them in the future. If this sounds like a promising deal to you, don't hesitate to reach out! Note: this class is for academic writing in the English language (not German).
With our world growing to be more connected by the day, English has become an essential language in all areas of life. Whether you wish to find a job, travel or simply consume news, English is an asset. I offer individual tutoring sessions or classes in small groups, as preferred by the students. The lessons will be tailored to your personal goals: do you want to learn the basics? Do you need someone to practice speaking with? Or would you like to improve your writing skills (academic or otherwise)? Anything can be arranged!
German is a language which, while spoken in comparatively few countries, is an immense asset to any person looking to live or work in another country at some point in their lives. While it has the reputation of being a cold and difficult language, I strongly believe that there are many beautiful things about it and encourage anyone with a bit of interest to try and learn it! As such, I offer private tutoring sessions for any level of German, and in any form: they can be one on one, or you can contact me with a friend or a group! Depending on your goals, the class will be tailored to focus on achieving them: if you need to practice speaking, writing, reading - that's what we will do!

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

Drawing with Paul. Learn the fundamentals of drawing so that you create the art you dream of.
Michelangelo say that you don't draw with your hand, but with your head, and that is true. Drawing is the most versatile skill you can learn, and the basis for infinite routs to express yourself. From drawings we have mapped and planned human civilisation as we know it. It is the original written language, and it is so much a part of who we are that even the youngest of us know what it is to create meaningful marks on a piece of paper. Drawing has inspired my life and I hope that I can share the things I've learned with you to help you on your path. There is nothing more frustrating then getting stuck as an artist, or looking at the great work of people that came before you and wondering how will I ever get there? It is a journey that lasts a lifetime, but it doesn't need to happen alone. There are ways to grow your skills, that those amazing artists did, and have been passed down. Ways to break down what you are doing on the page to truly create the illusion of depth, so that it feels real. I can give you the building blocks to understand how to create realism. I will also help you build on our own natural creativity, and hopefully keep you from some of the growing pains I had to go through in the pursuit of my craft.
