Music is an art and a discipline that has accompanied me throughout my life, which is why for 7 years I have been giving private lessons or in small groups to be able to teach my students everything I have learned. My learning system is based on total adaptation at the level of the student, understanding that each of us is different and that two people can learn the same musical idea differently. I have experience with students of all ages, beginners and children. It is therefore important for me to give students autonomy and knowledge, from technique to music, which allow them to become good musicians, and to enjoy the learning process while developing their creativity and their culture. I usually give my lessons in French, but I am also ready to give them in Spanish or English.

Un jour, j’ai rencontré un guitariste qui m’a dit la chose suivante : « ce n’est pas la guitare qui fait le guitariste, mais le guitariste qui fait la guitare ». Comme cette personne avait raison ! Que vous soyez débutant ou que vous pratiquiez déjà la guitare, il est important de garder cette idée à l’esprit et en tant que professeur de guitare, je reste dans cette philosophie. Je pratique cet instrument depuis plus de 30 ans. J’ai joué dans des groupes de musique et j'ai enregistré avec des musiciens professionnels des chansons qui sont aujourd’hui distribuées sur les plateformes musicales. Mon enseignement : - Pour les débutants, je vous propose d’apprendre les rudiments de la guitare. Bien entendu, cela suppose de connaître l’instrument et de passer par un peu de théorie (savoir accorder sa guitare, lire une tablature, positionner correctement ses doigts sur le manche, connaître les bases rythmiques, etc.). Néanmoins, je ne suis pas partisan du matraquage théorique. Lorsque qu’une personne souhaite apprendre un instrument, j’estime qu’il est important de sortir de son cours avec la capacité de jouer un air ou une chanson. - Pour les élèves qui ont déjà quelques bases, je peux vous aider à développer votre jeu de guitare (la rythmique, les solos, les arpèges, les riffs), voir ou revoir les gammes afin de pouvoir improviser avec d’autres musiciens. Étant auteur-compositeur, si vous avez des talents de chanteurs et d’écriture, je peux également intervenir pour vous aider à construire vos morceaux. My teaching method follows the same tone as the courses in the conservatory. I adapt according to the styles of each student. I can teach a 10-year-old child as well as a 60-year-old adult (Music has no age.) I teach at my home (Hospitals Faculties) or at your home depending on everyone's availability. The learning will be complete with study on musical training, on the instrument and on help with musical composition if necessary and at the request of the student.

For beginners who want to play the classic, we will start with the basics of music theory and reading notes. The music theory will be integrated into the practice of the piano and not separated from it. For the more advanced, in-depth work on dynamics and interpretation may be interesting. For non-classics, eager to improvise any music or to be able to reproduce the accompaniment of a beloved song, we will study harmony (always by tapping the keys, rest assured :)). Understanding between tonal and harmonic relationships is the key to improvisation. However, I remain very open to your wishes and needs and I can easily adapt my teaching according to what is requested.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.
