People of all ages are welcome in my classes, regardless of whether they are starting from scratch or have prior knowledge. I always try to respond to the individual needs of each student and design classes according to their objectives. For me, learning to play an instrument is not only about acquiring the proper technique, but also about developing one's own musical and artistic personality. To this end, I always work with my students on works that, in addition to helping them advance technically, are attractive and interesting for them, in order to foster their motivation. Throughout my career I have worked with students of all ages, both viola and violin. I have been a violin and viola teacher in various music schools in Holland and Germany, and I currently work as a viola teacher at the Official Music and Dance Center "Musical Martí", in Madrid. About me: I have a degree in viola from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland). Subsequently, I completed my Master in Interpretation at the Utrecht Higher Conservatory. I consider myself a patient and enthusiastic person and I believe that, with the right tools, everyone can learn music.

A little more about me: My name is Suely and I obtained my Bachelor's degree in music at the Amsterdam Conservatory where I was able to develop an international vision of music, both as a performer and teacher. After several years living in different countries and participating in international orchestras and festivals, such as the Civic Orchestra of Chicago or the Lucerne Music Festival Academy, I returned to Madrid where I completed my master's degree in solo performance and where I combine my professional career as a violinist, both in orchestras and chamber music, with my other great passion: teaching. With 27 years of experience as a violin teacher, artist and composer, I transmit my love of music in a creative, playful and holistic way. I have developed a method that adapts to each student according to their needs, levels and desires. I attach great importance to creating a caring and relaxed atmosphere where the student can flourish and develop both a solid technique and learn self-confidence. We will also discuss how to work efficiently and calmly and we will develop the qualities necessary to express yourself freely with your instrument. We will talk about musicality, physical well-being (the importance of breathing!), attentive listening and we will take the time to explore while having fun. If necessary, the basics of music theory will be learned gradually. Although I have a classical background I enjoy teaching a variety of music (Celtic, folk, klezmer, tango, jazz, films...) and I encourage my students to discover the most beautiful melodies in the repertoire and sometimes even to improvise or compose together. I am an Albanian violinist, with a Bachelor degree in Classical Music (Violin) and Musicologie in Sorbonne University. I am a professional violinist. I graduated with distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Master) and hold a Bachelor Diploma from Codarts (Rotterdam). I also pursued a masters degree in Music Education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I teach students of all ages and levels. I have thirteen years of teaching experience in the Netherlands and in Belgium ( privately and at music schools: Hart Muziekschool in Haarlem and Vioolstudio 020! in Amsterdam). In my lessons I help the students to find a good contact with the instrument and cultivate a positive relationship with music by integrating the development of aural skills, sense of rhythm and an optimal body use, enabling them to connect with their musical imagination. The lessons are adapted to each student's needs and wishes.

I aim to strike a balance as much as possible between teaching technical skills and musicality, as of course there cannot be one without the other when learning an instrument. Lessons are a mixture of teaching and demonstrating correct posture, finger patterns or body movements, and teaching and engaging a learner with rhythm, pitch and melody, and then combining them together. I am a firm believer in tackling one aspect at a time in lessons and gradually combining it with another aspect of playing. I often include activities such as playing a note and asking the student to match my pitch or sound quality, or including musical games that can develop musical memory and rhythm. The most important aspect of learning any instrument is of course the music! Aiming to help a student find music (or if they have ideas they are welcome to bring them along!) that they love and find absorbing - this can be any genre, as long as it has a tune! I have a variety of books of different levels that I can use to help students find styles that are fun and enjoyable for them. There are technical things that need to be worked on in playing any instrument - but of fundamental importance is that the student has a feel for the music they play and a musical idea of what the end goal of any piece is.
