Italian private lessons (language and civilization)

I am a student who has not yet graduated in Classics, but I have a linguistic diploma (English, French, Spanish and Italian) and a DELF B2 certificate. I give lessons to convey the input of knowledge through deep study, but not mentally heavy. I would like to help students who have difficulties and who feel disadvantaged when it comes to school subjects. I would like to motivate the student to give the maximum with the "minimum" effort and above all to make people understand how important culture is nowadays. I would like to give my study method to those who are confused about the approach to language study and not only. Anyone can participate in my classes, it is not necessary to have any prerequisites, on the contrary the basics will be what we will work on the most because they make the difference in the study. I will be happy to accompany the student in his path of academic growth and especially to teach him the methodology to face any problem at the level of the study.

The lessons can be individuals or in group, and will be adapted to the needs and the personality of the student.

Italian is a wonderful language for its diversity and musicality, which fascinates people all over the world. Obviously, it is a language that requires application and practice for its learning. This is why I organize my courses in a hybrid way: For beginners : First, we will learn how to read and pronounce words correctly, as well as the first basic constructions for communicating (subject, verb, complement). Secondly, we will discover the different phenomena of the Italian language, focusing on their use. The goal is to start expressing simple thoughts, while communicating and having fun learning the language. For intermediaries: We will deepen the knowledge of the language and consolidate basic constructions, while adding new knowledge. The goal at this level is to begin to express more complex thoughts and, above all, to be able to express oneself independently. For the advanced: The enrichment of the Italian language and the expression of emotions and opinions will be at the heart of our work. The materials I use come from books, manuals, videos, podcasts, and are personalized for each of my students.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).

Hello everyone! I'm Giorgia and I come from Torino, Italy. I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language. I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments. Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above). I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course and for each lesson I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
