My name is Cristina and I speak Italian as a native language. I was born and raised in Italy, where I graduated and worked as an Italian teacher for children and teenagers from 6 to 15 years old, both Italian and foreign. Four years ago I moved to the Netherlands. Here I started teaching Italian to anyone who wanted to learn my beautiful language, both in person and via webcam. I mainly focus on the conversation, regardless of the starting level of the student. Starting from a short dialogue, an article or a video, I draw inspiration to deepen vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. I use different types of material: texts, newspaper and magazine articles, original or simplified, games and interactive exercises, everything that can make the lesson exciting, fun and productive! And for those who want it, there is no shortage of homework, which you can do online or in textbooks, depending on your taste.
Since moving, I have also started studying Dutch and this has helped me enormously in understanding the difficulties that students, especially adults, can encounter when learning a foreign language. I was able to compare different methods and experiment on myself with different theories and techniques.

Utilizzo varie tipologie di materiale: testi, articoli di giornali e riviste, originali o semplificati, giochi ed esercizi interattivi, tutto ciò che può rendere la lezione appasionante, divertente e produttiva! E per chi lo desidera non mancano i compiti per casa, da fare online o su libri di testo, a seconda dei gusti.
Da quando mi sono trasferita ho iniziato a studiare anch'io l'olandese e questo mi è stato di grande aiuto nel comprendere le difficoltà che gli studenti, soprattutto adulti, possono incontrare nello studio di una lingua straniera. Ho potuto confrontare vari metodi e sperimentare su me stesso diverse teorie e tecniche.

I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.
