I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years. The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge. The objective is to detect its weak points and understand their origin in order to adapt my courses to its needs. I develop a tailor-made remediation program for each of my students aimed at filling each of their gaps. While I am passionate about my subjects, I understand that not everyone is ecstatic about studying. There's no point teaching simultaneous equations to a struggling student if it isn't on the GCSE Maths Foundation syllabus! Depending on grade that the student is aiming for/predicted I will: ●spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, make it explicit what content is the core of the course content and structure lessons in descending importance ● (for higher level students) spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, identify the weakest links and structure lessons in ascending order of skill I believe in spaced repetition so revisiting topics taught before is a must! This will manifest in the form of: ●surprise questions during the first 10 minutes of lessons ●helping prepare and working through past papers when it comes closer to exam time to encourage active recall. During normal lessons, there will be a mix of: ●theoretical teaching ●helping the student digest, understand and store useful information that has been presented ●visual aspects (diagrams) In order for students to efficiently absorb knowledge, I will teach one core topic per lesson.
