Singing Lessons - from Musical Theatre to Classical!

I have been teaching for more than six years now and I managed to come up with an easy and approachable method for anyone who wants to learn the ways of this beautiful instrument. I started playing the guitar at the age of twelve years old, thru high school and that eventually led me to the National Conservatory of Bucharest, Romania, where I refined my playing and begun teaching. I am going to encourage you every step of the way with much needed advice on the right technique, score reading, so that you quickly gain confidence in your playing. I put a high importance on technique and theory because these two aspect, as well as your daily practice, are what will make you have fast progress and thus loads of fun along the way.

My name is Daniil. I am a pianist and composer from Ukraine. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in composition, piano, and pedagogy at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2018 and my Master's in Music composition from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 2020. The main power of music is in its ability to open up worlds of communication that are inaccessible otherwise. Therefore, in our lessons, we will use technical exercises, solfège, and music theory (if/when needed) to achieve the level of performance that will allow for the ultimate goal – having fun playing for or with your friends and family. Apart from working on your favorite pieces and classical repertoire, we will work on your skills of sight-reading and improvisation. We will also play pieces together, either on a piano in four hands or with me on the violin. I have almost ten years of experience teaching piano, composition, solfège, harmony and counterpoint, and music theory. Among my students were kids aiming for (and succeeding at) admission into higher music education institutions, conservatory students who needed help with their music theory and piano classes, and kids and adults who studied music in their spare time. No matter what your goal (or lack thereof) is for studying music, we will find an appropriate pace, structure, and repertoire. The classes can take place either at my house in Scheveningen or at a student's location in The Hague.

If needed, I also help with understanding sheet music and music theory. For each student I offer a specific lesson format that is suitable for her/him. I can give lessons in classical music, but also in more modern music or improvisation. About me: I'm Nil! I am 25, from Barcelona (Spain). I obtained my bachelor's degree in performance and music pedagogy at the Prince Claus Conservatoire, Groningen. Now I have graduated from the Master's in Classical Music at the Royal Conservatoire (The Hague). During my studies I also gained experience with professional orchestras (Residence Orkest and Noord Nederlands Orkest) and I played in semi-professional and amateur orchestras (as a soloist). During my master's degree I did a Master's in Research in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I started teaching when I was 18 and then continued teaching. My name is Per and I'm from Sweden, I'm 33 years old and I've been a professional musician for about ten years - I also have quite a lot of experience teaching, privately, and in class. (Both singing lessons and piano lessons) I studied performance/jazz vocals at the Royal college of music in Stockholm, I'm quite obsessed with music theory, I definitely know how not to be afraid of making mistakes on the piano, and I don't like to undermine neither myself nor anybody else. Classes are given in Dutch, English, French, or Spanish. We usually do a bit of technique at the beginning of the lesson, and then work on the song(s) that you brought (expression and technique). It can be classical or pop. I can accompany you on the piano.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

In my lovingly designed lessons, we combine breathing techniques, speech training, singing and movement into a harmonious unit. I respond to YOUR needs. In my singing lessons, you and your individual needs are the focus. Together we design each lesson to suit you perfectly. We begin with gentle warm-up exercises to prepare your body and voice. We place particular emphasis on loosening the jaw and relaxing the entire body. For children, I integrate playful movements that make the lessons lively and varied. We then work on breathing techniques and support to make your voice sound powerful and free. As the lessons progress, we discover the unique sound of your voice together and apply what we have learned to songs of your choice. With children, I pay particular attention to their wishes and favorite songs to encourage the joy of singing.

Experienced teacher of Oud and oriental Arabic singing for over 11 years, I am Lebanese and currently residing in Germany. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I taught at the Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and gave private lessons. In addition, I was conductor of the Loubnan Assalam oriental orchestra for over 5 years. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run. I have been teaching piano for over 20 years now. I trained at the Royal College of Music after winning a junior scholarship, where I spent 8 years studying piano, cello, music theory and choral music. My aim is for my students to enjoy the rewards and challenges of learning by making lessons fun and accessible. Each lesson is tailored to the individual needs of my students. I teach ABRSM grades and all styles of music from complete beginner to advanced level.

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

Music is a pleasant experience that we all deserve to live, whether as an individual pleasure or in a group space, through it we can discover a creative spirit within us that we may not have known about. With the help of a graduate in music, with an emphasis on musical pedagogy, you will be able to learn various plucked string instruments, from common ones such as the guitar, the requinto or the bass, to other traditional instruments such as the tiple and the bandola.
