There are two grand pianos at the location in Den Haag. There will be enough distance between the student and the teacher. For children, it is important to develop basic musical skills through Singing, Rythmique, and Ear training besides piano playing. I use one technical exercise book, the main textbook, and a theory book. Through these 3 books, students learn different aspects of music and they naturally get ready for exams and grades. After acquiring basic skills, students study Harmony and Chord exercises too. These are useful for playing pops and jazz, and they obtain a deeper understanding of classical pieces too. Private Piano lesson, from age 4 and above. Children can start the lesson after being able to read the numbers from 1 to 5 and the alphabet from A to G. Advanced students who want to prepare for competitions, auditions, ABRSM, GCSE, IB exams, or the entrance exam of the conservatory. The concert is held annually together with students of flute, violin, and composition teachers. For the ages 1-7 years, I have group Rhythmique lessons.

Hello there! Welcome to my profile. I am Rui and I teach piano. The piano is known as the most complete musical instrument of all. This is because when playing it we can get all kinds of characters and sounds: very deep basses or super soft high notes; delicate melodies or dense harmonies (almost like an orchestra sometimes). This is one of the reasons why I love to play the piano, its versatility adapts to my everyday mood. I would love to show you the wonders we can create with this amazing instrument! Lessons Every student is different, and by saying this I mean that I prepare every lesson specifically for each student. Some might be more shy, others might need more time to acknowledge some questions. I believe that music (much like everything else) should be taught with patience and motivation. You shouldn’t feel like you’re going against time, it should be the opposite. As a teacher, I always give priority to your motivation and excitement regarding the lesson’s activity. If I see that a student is not enjoying the lesson I have to improvise and turn it around. When teaching, the most important thing for me is that you learn while having fun. I have already some years of experience in giving piano lessons to people of all ages. I adapt the lesson content for every student individually, and I always give them the freedom to follow their musical taste and instincts. I also give a lot of focus to creativity and improvisation. At the end of the lesson, I usually save a few minutes for the student to decide what he/she wants to do: maybe a little 4-hand improvisation, or maybe play a piece they have already learned and that they enjoy playing. About me Most of my studies and experience as a teacher took place in Portugal. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance in 2020. I moved to The Netherlands in 2020 to attend the Master Program in Classical Piano Performance in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. My academic studies were built on classical music but I also have some experience in pop and rock music. I hope this motivates you to study piano with me! I am currently studying at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, on the classical saxophone department, but I also play the piano for 12 years. I offer individual music lessons, coaching. I aim to have students challenged, motivated, but not overwhelmed. I take extra care to find out the students own learning tempo, and adjust the material to it.

To learn how to play piano is never too late! I have 15 years of experience in teaching students from the age of 5 until 80. Amateurs and professional musicians, all levels. Diverse repertoire, from light pop to the classic. I graduated Tchaikovsky conservatory in Moscow and Royal conservatory in the Hague. I have 2 master degrees as a solo pianist, chamber soloist and piano teacher. I started to teach piano when I was 15 as a part of a school programme but my biggest experience I got here in the Netherlands. I have students with such a different background in music: amateurs, professionals, kids, adults. I am trying to find a personal approach to every student and make the process of learning more interesting and inspiring. I teach but I also learn a lot from my students. For example, I have a lot of students above 65 years old and they changed my vision and inspired me too. Now I see that it is never too late to start learning to play piano. For the first lesson you (student) don’t need to bring anything. But if you are not a beginner of course it would be nice to play something what you have learned before. The lessons are possible in Dutch, English and Russian depending on what is more convenient and comfortable for the student.

The central pillars I always work with are technique and creativity, which are much more connected than you would expect! While we advance, I also introduce the basics (or more deeply, if you are interested) of music theory to learn to communicate with each other in musical terms (chords, keys, score reading, etc.). And above all, the goal is to enjoy and have fun!

Teaching music is teaching a new language. A language that must be learned in all its different forms (speaking/playing, listening, reading and writing) in order to be understood. One of my main interests as a piano teacher is to provide the students with the most possible instruments for their own development, in order to awaken in them the consciousness of being as they play their instrument. In the current experience, everything is moving ahead of you at a very fast pace and almost even digested. To come into contact with the art of playing the piano is to immerse yourself in the most beautiful experience of self-discovery while making music, in a bottomless sea of inner growth. Teaching is another form of communication, keeping traditions alive and giving life to the information by passing it on. After finishing studies at four conservatories around Europe (Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, and The Netherlands), I am pursuing a musical career based in The Hague. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

My Background I started playing organ in church when I was 10 years old. I have been performing since 2016, in folk, pop and jazz ensembles around Italy and now I am continuing my music studies in Valencia, at the Berklee College of Music.
