Having finished my Bachelor's degree in Spain and Master's in Groningen, I am currently a freelance performer and teacher. With plenty of experience in orchestras and chamber music all around Europe, when I came to Groningen I could explore other genres and I am currently playing in different ensembles related with classical, pop, jazz, folk, experimental or improvisation. My teaching method comes directly from renowned teachers as Kati Sebestyen and Juan Luis Gallego, but also adds my own intuition and self-discovery and acquired knowledge during pedagogy courses. During my lessons I create a good base for violin playing, understanding that it is all a combination of steps that we need to put together with consciousness, patience, joy and practice. Finally it is all about doing music and enjoy. The control of our mind and body is what give us the tools to make an instrument sound :) With genuine pedagogical intention, my lessons are very dynamic, joyful and efficient. I also like to play along with my students and use backing tracks.

My undergraduate and masters degrees in Music from Berklee College of Music and Trinity College Dublin provided a solid foundation in both music theory and performance, which I have built upon through extensive practical teaching experience. It doesn't matter if you are a complete beginner or not, from the very first lesson I will provide you the possibility of enjoying playing music together with me. Instead of just playing alone on the lessons, throughout pieces for two violin with the teacher's involvement (me) you can learn several musical and technical aspects of this beautiful instrument :) . I am offering lessons for all ages and level as I have various experiences. I aim to strike a balance as much as possible between teaching technical skills and musicality, as of course there cannot be one without the other when learning an instrument. Lessons are a mixture of teaching and demonstrating correct posture, finger patterns or body movements, and teaching and engaging a learner with rhythm, pitch and melody, and then combining them together. I am a firm believer in tackling one aspect at a time in lessons and gradually combining it with another aspect of playing. I often include activities such as playing a note and asking the student to match my pitch or sound quality, or including musical games that can develop musical memory and rhythm. The most important aspect of learning any instrument is of course the music! Aiming to help a student find music (or if they have ideas they are welcome to bring them along!) that they love and find absorbing - this can be any genre, as long as it has a tune! I have a variety of books of different levels that I can use to help students find styles that are fun and enjoyable for them. There are technical things that need to be worked on in playing any instrument - but of fundamental importance is that the student has a feel for the music they play and a musical idea of what the end goal of any piece is.

Let me introduce myself. I am Ángeles, an Andalusian in Finland, finishing my master degree in Music Performance at the prestigious Sibelius Academy with great professor Mari Tampere-Bezrodny. I came to Helsinki two years ago seeking for a personal and cultural growth, with huge passion for music and the need to share it. I discovered in violin teaching a new path to that energy to come true, to materialize, by inspiring and leading enthusiastic students to their best performance. I am a professional violinist. I graduated with distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Master) and hold a Bachelor Diploma from Codarts (Rotterdam). I also pursued a masters degree in Music Education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I teach students of all ages and levels. I have thirteen years of teaching experience in the Netherlands and in Belgium ( privately and at music schools: Hart Muziekschool in Haarlem and Vioolstudio 020! in Amsterdam).
