My name is Jose and I am currently an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. I offer piano lessons for children as well as adults (beginners, advanced, and professional musicians). I am particularly interested in bringing musically passionate people closer to both classical and popular music (gladly also in German or in Spanish). My primary goal is to bring out each individual’s personality through music. My teaching methods are adapted to different age groups, focusing on building a personal connection and collaboration.

I am Henry, concert pianist, currently a student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I have had extensive experience as a soloist on stages and in concerts, as well as experience as a teacher for children and adults with very good results. The teaching method involves different learning processes in the student; - recognition of notes on the keyboard - correct positioning of hands and fingers - learning to read sheet music - learning works and resources to interpret them - basic musical, melodic and rhythmic theory.

As a professional pianist with a passion for teaching, I have been teaching piano and music theory for 10 years now, at conservatories, music schools, and private lessons. I hold a performance license from the Rouen Conservatory and a master's degree in teaching from the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie de Namur. I adapt to each student's profile so that they can flourish musically!

In my teaching, I rely mostly on old traditional methods, books, and repertoire, which have proved their efficiency over the time. I also make use of the teaching tradition of partimenti of the old Neapolitan conservatories - exercises for composing that can be applied from early stage. This not only adds a creative element soon after very beginning, but also teaches via practice the basics of harmony and polyphony. Lessons can be combined (+30min.) with theory/solfege (ear training), if the student wishes. English, Nederlands, française, Deutsch. I have been teaching for more than 15 years, privately, in Brussels, and in New York in the past, more than 100 students. I am a graduate of Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, in baroque cello and harpsichord, but I play also modern cello organ, and piano.

In French : For almost ten years, my method has strived to move away from those found at the Academy, sometimes considered austere and outdated. In my opinion, the student is the main actor in his learning, and the teacher should be his caring guide. In my opinion, his role is to provide him with appropriate help and support, and not to impose pre-established rules that do not take into account his unique needs. The image of the harsh and cold teacher should therefore be forgotten with me. My philosophy is always to encourage without imposing. The student will also have the opportunity to have access to a much broader repertoire than that imposed in classical education. Thus, he will be able to play his favorite music from all walks of life, whether it be themes from songs, plays, films, series or even video games. Of course, I also encourage classical music, as long as the student finds pleasure in it, which remains and will remain the most important for me. In English: Over a decade of teaching, I have developed a method of teaching piano that differs from the ones found in the academic environment. For me, the student should be at the center of his learning journey. No cold, strict or ill-tempered teaching on my watch! My philosophy goes by the following: always encourage, never impose. He/She has the freedom to play any music from all backgrounds, including songs, shows, movies, series or even video games. Of course I also encourage classical music, as long as the student enjoys it, which will always be the most important part for me. The teacher has been singing for 22 years. She studied Solfeggio and Piano at the Musicole (Uccle) then Singing and Soflège at the Académie de Saint Gilles, in Lyric Singing. She took group singing lessons with several renowned teachers (La Voie Créatif, Frédérique Rochette, Jérôme Porsperger, Corps Chant Voix). The teacher has a piano to work on vocals and piano. The teacher works on the basis of song texts. The student discovers or recognizes the song after choosing between several titles. The teacher adapts to her student's tastes as to the type of music that pleases him, she transmits her knowledge of singing whether for melody, for rhythm, for the placement of the voice and breathing.
