Learning how to play the piano is not only musically enriching as it is one of the easier instruments to pick up if you are new to music, giving you a solid base of musical understanding, but also will boost your confidence in general being able to recognise pitches with multiple voicings as we work up the grades.
I adopt a goal-oriented teaching style:
- we will work through ABRSM grades -- breaking down the work needed to master all the way from scales to exam pieces to aural to sight reading.
Nailing pronunciation is important in learning a language. I am going to teach you English phonics, including accurate word pronunciation + breakdown, and how to read phonetic symbols in International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). My classes are chill and casual - developing a passive income source. Happy to schedule a call to brief you what you'll learn!
Cantonese is the spoken Chinese language used in Hong Kong and several provinces in China. It is not an easy language but it is very useful especially for those of you who are looking to further your career or development in Hong Kong, a glamorous international city.
Born and bred in Hong Kong, I am native in this language and I will be able to teach my beginner students basic words, strokes if needs be, the 9 tonalities, and the pronunciation of every new word. We'll start with words, and then vocabularies, and further, grammar, sentence structure to formulate simple sentences.
My teaching style is casual. I believe that practicing is the key to perfecting any skills not least languages, and I am passionate about having intriguing conversations with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Over the last ten years, I have taught students of all ages - from children to teenagers and adults - to play the flute, recorder, alto flute and piccolo. I have developed a flexible and individually adapted teaching concept that responds to the needs of each individual - be it for fun, to prepare for competitions or to prepare specifically for entrance exams. Flute and Music Theory tuition for students of all levelsI have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8.
I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on.
Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too.
Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire.
I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

This course also includes a thorough introduction to harmony.

Transverse flute, piano and musical language teacher with studies in Waldorf music pedagogy in Hamburg, GermanyHello, my name is Alexandra. I like to plan both the methodology and the activities of the classes according to:
1. The student's interest, the objectives he or she seeks and
2. Your profile (temperament, personality, individuality), since not all people learn in the same way.
These two points are very important to me, so that the class experience is something dynamic (whether it is a child, a teenager, an adult or a group). The place of the class, a time in which we learn by having fun and enjoying the process of learning.

Transverse flute beginner, intermediate and advanced levelLearning to play the flute offers many benefits, regardless of your skill level. On a personal level, playing the instrument develops discipline and focus, as mastering the flute requires precise coordination between breathing, fingering, and embouchure. Additionally, playing the flute can help sharpen your musical ear, improve your sensitivity to rhythm, and strengthen your skills in reading sheet music. These skills can be applied to other aspects of life, such as managing stress or improving your memory.
Socially and artistically, the transverse flute is an extremely versatile instrument that can be integrated into a wide variety of ensembles, such as orchestras, chamber music groups, and modern ensembles. This diversity offers many opportunities for collaboration with other musicians and exploration of varied repertoires, ranging from baroque to jazz. Furthermore, playing the flute fosters creativity and personal expression, allowing each flutist to interpret works with their own musical sensibility.
