One of the most important things is knowing how to read the music; that is the first thing I usually teach, adapting my teaching method to the student I have in front of me: knowing how to read music is like speaking a new language, so it takes a little bit of time to be familiar with it. But I can promise that after you learn it you will never forget it! I then teach how to play “technically”, which means the basis of piano playing: how to sit, and how to put your feet, hands, arms, and fingers on the keyboard.
