The focus of my tuitions is to instil the necessary confidence in the student to embrace a new language and to master the little tactics of learning. I have a variety of materials to make sure that my student(s) do not get overwhelmed, but instead feel motivated to learn more. Depending upon the personality and wants of my student, I may assign written homework and/or other stimulating stuff like videos to make sure the student is having a continuous and sustainable progress. I was also an Intercollege Chess Champion back in my country, Mauritius, hence, I can give you various techniques and strategies to foresee the moves of your opponents, calculate and plan everything in your head before acting (so as to prevent your rival from getting any hint of your motives) and brain exercises to improve your logic and memory simultaneously as these two areas of the brain are the two main determinants of how fierce and successful a chess player you would be. As for the translation works, I specialise in the translation of any work ranging from research articles to simple homework. I have translated various documents in the following languages: English, French and Turkish.

I offer Turkish language lessons for all levels. I grew up in Turkey and lived there for 19 years, therefore I'm proficient in the street-usage of the language, its vernaculars for different regions and the academic/literary usage of Istanbul Turkish in reading and writing. I'm a philosophy student at KU Leuven at the moment, which allows me to understand English and Turkish languages in their semiotic levels and teach them with an easy to grasp pedagocial perspective. I can also help with Turkish history, culture, politics, literature and music with a non-nationalistic point of view, since I see Turkey not as a homogenous nation, but as a union of multiple cultures and ethnicities. This will become apparent when we dive into the various etymological roots of Turkish vocabulary, including Greek, Armenian, French, Kurdish, Arabic, Persian, etc.

We will continue to improve our speaking, listening and grammar levels by learning new informations step by step. Based on my 13 years of experience, I think that A1 level is a very important period in language learning. When learning any language, beginner level students should learn it in the correct order and important details should be explained well by practising previous ones. Students at more advanced levels, such as A2, B1 or above, also need to practice their skills at the previous level thoroughly to improve their language skills. I try to provide good teaching by paying attention to these important points in my lessons. I keep our lessons' notes in a word file. After our lessons, I send you back all the additional notes and exercises that we covered in our lesson as a Word file.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying the Turkish Language and Literature in my undergraduate programme. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for 14 years. I also taught Turkish for 4 years when I was a university student. I learned Ottoman Turkish at the university, that is why I am familiar Persian and Arabic vocabulary. I also studied Persian, German and Italian grammar. I completed my master's degree in Ottoman history and spent a semester as an Erasmus student at the Turkish Studies Department of Leiden University. A basic but correct conversation is really important for self-confidence in any language. If a learner can master basic sentence forms, the rest will come much easier. On the other hand, making mistakes is also very important. Especially, a learner can not speak without making a mistake the first and second time. My students are always varied and have diverse learning skills. My professionalism also allows me to tailor language education according to individual interests, needs, and capacities.
