I have been giving private music lessons and fortepiano for a long time. In addition to my classical music education in 2000, I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychopedagogy in 2006. This year I am interested in expanding my practice to include more students with special needs. I learned about the different ways music can help students with special needs. It helps them express their emotions and develop their memories and self-regulatory skills. It can show them strengths that they might not otherwise find during their school day. It can also open their eyes to a whole world of expression and beauty, enriching their lives. I find out what works for a particular student, what distracts them, what motivates them, what helps them focus and sometimes just learn how to relate to them. In this course we will look at music composition, learning the basics of orchestration and using digital software to compose music, such as Sibelius and Dorico. We will also cover a brief history of composition, look at the composers of the past and present and look at how they can influence us in composition today. Part of the course will give you an opportunity to write your own music and get feedback on it. If you’re interested in the technical side, I can teach you about Logic and how to move from the score to programming using virtual instruments within Logic.
