My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time, and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson so they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Also, it's fun!

I am a first class Music graduate from Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where I gained skills in vocal technique, songwriting and performance. I now use these skills as a professional vocalist and solo jazz artist. I have 10+ years of experience teaching which includes leading a children's choir, teaching music to ages 6 months to 10 years at nursery and after school clubs, and extensive one-to-one vocal coaching. My teaching method is different for everyone. Whatever your focus is, be it gaining confidence performing, or wanting to sing that big Beyoncé song, I've been through the same learning process and aim to use my own experiences and lessons I've learnt along the way to help you reach your full potential and achieve your goals. Welcome to my online Piano Class. The 30 mins lesson option is just for the new students, so we can meet, discuss, see what you need (level, scores, etc) and, of, course, start to play! Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else.
