Drumming and how to make your drums fit a composition
Drums, as with bass guitar are the backbone of any good song, and the foundation upon which the music is built. Despite not being as famous as lead vocals or lead guitar. Drums in my opinion is much more fun, at all levels of performance.
I will teach you how to play the drums, how to fit the style to the genre and we will learn by practice by breaking down the famous classics, and explain what part drums played to make these classics so good.
We will use my electronic drumset, which is not as good as the real thing but is definitely good for starters. There are ways you can practice at home without a drumset as well. And we can expand later and rent a studio room, where I can jam with you on the guitar even!

About Me
I am a software developer and a multi-instrumentalist; I play guitar (acoustic, electric, bass and ukulele), drums and keyboards. I have my own one-man-band project that I work on on-and-off. I've always enjoyed teaching. My fondest experiences have been things like teaching swing dancing and German to refugees, helping undergraduates with mathematics and programming. My approach to teaching is generally more hands-on with application of theory. I will dissect songs with you, and rhythm sections to show why this melody/rhythm is good as opposed to something else. I believe theory is indeed important, but in the end it has to be applied to an instrument. And the application is as fine an art as the theory. So I prefer to start from the application's side.
Education
I am a Data Scientist by profession, and I have a Masters degree in Computer Informatics with focus on NLP (Natural Language Processing). But music is much more fun to me, and I would love to make the switch soon if I can!Experience / Qualifications
Music-wise, I have been playing guitar for 13 years, and drums and piano for 6 years. I have released an EP and a full-length album.Reviews (14)
Sam is a great teacher with enthusiasm for the instrument. It is really fun to learn from him!
I'm learning drums with Sam and he has been really kind and patient when teaching. He encourages you on every small achievement and makes sure you have all your basics covered. I really enjoy the sessions
Cool lessons - I was able to have easy conversations in the first hour, which is much more fun than learning stupid grammar :)

Sam is really an amazing teacher, he explains both theory and exercises in a very clear and enjoyable way. I had a lot of fun during my first lesson and I´m already looking forward to the next one! :)
The lesson with Sam was great. He is a very easy going guy with a huge passion for music!

The guitar is undoubtedly one of the most popular instruments of the modern age. It is so versatile and used in many genres ranging from classical music to Death Metal and even Electronic Music.
I will teach you the basics of playing the guitar, and I'll spice it up later with my experience in composition and songwriting. We will learn by example through the famous songs that shaped our understanding of the guitar. Whether you prefer singer-songwriter-style songs, or thrash metal we'll get there together.
I will teach mainly using the guitar tablature format, we can do sheet music which is generally unneeded for anything besides classical, but I will need to refresh my music sheet reading skills as I haven't had to read any in the last 10 years.
Arabic is the sixth most spoken language in the world. Spoken by about 420 million natives, and many more that know it as a foreign language for religious reasons.
Arabic is known for its encompassing vocabulary, beautiful poetry, and a sense for the melodrama!
I will teach you either Standard Arabic or Egyptian (your choice), with a focus on the amazing sides of the language and the culture such as poetry, great movies, TV, and so on. And of course we will hopefully have great discussions in Arabic!

Improve your musical creativity with personalised classes from multi-Instrumentalist singer and improviserDo you wish to learn writing music from scratch or improve your composition skills without a necessity of music theory knowledge? Do you want to produce your own music but struggle with the technical aspects?
I'm a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and performer and I offer applied classes on writing/arranging/producing pieces of music using various instruments of your choice, including your computer. I use a 'learning by creating' method, where we focus and go deeper on certain aspects depending on your needs on your music creation process. I like to use personalised methods that matches your desires, rather than following a certain curriculum. The goal is to help you gain or improve awareness on how a piece of music is written and learn various ways to begin and finalise a writing process.
During our practices, I will naturally be transferring my knowledge on certain aspects such as:
- Rhythm
- Form
- Dynamics
- Texture
- Melody making
- Singing
- Guitar playing
- Placing words into music/making music around words
- Improvisation as a compositional tool
- Integration of Ableton Live into creative process
- Recording
- Mixing
During the sessions, we'll either write together from scratch or work on your own material and tackle the issues of constructing a piece of music. Please contact me if interested, then we will have a first video call where we get to meet each other and discuss where you stand and your wishes. This way I can create a personalised program that suits your level and speaks to your area of interest.

I'll give you the keys to :
- Get to grips with Ableton Live and set up an efficient workflow
- Understand sound structure and audio manipulation
- Compose your own tracks and develop your artistic identity
- Explore different types of synthesis and sound design

- Structure, arrange, and bring your ideas to life
- Learn mixing techniques and how to properly export your projects
- If you're already experienced, dive into advanced production techniques to refine your craft
I'll also accompany you and advise you on the purchase of your equipment/plugins/tools.
Classes take place either at the DJ School Berlin studio in Kreuzberg, equipped with 2 CDJs, 2 vinyl decks, workstation, synths, drum machines and controllers or online with screen sharing and quality audio without latency or loss. Sessions are always followed by review sheets and homework assignments.
They are a mix of theory and practice, and we also cover the values and precepts of this art form, giving you lots of pro tips and tricks, as well as creative surprises ;)

Musical Composition Lessons in Berlin - in EnglishGreetings!
If you've come across this page, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Sean, a composer from Melbourne, Australia, now based in Berlin. I am currently freelancing all around Europe and have had my music played by some of the preeminent ensembles and contemporary music players. I primarily work with contemporary 'new' music, focusing on finding the expressive qualities of instruments and players, sometimes with edgy, earthy results that can verge on abrasive; though I am open to a wide variety of aesthetics. My practice is notated mostly, but I have experience with electroacoustic and non-traditional forms of musical composition also, as well as improvisation.
Much of my teaching style comes down to creating feedback loops with my students. I am firm with my students to ensure I get their full potential. Of course, if a student comes to me with a particular area of interest and/or issue that is my main focus. More general students should expect to focus on building up their aesthetics and discovering new ways of using the tools at their disposal.
I like to invest time in my students, including introducing them to connections in the professional sphere to assist in their trajectory as composers in the real world. This does not mean my students need to have aspirations to be professional composers necessarily, but it is crucial for 'emerging' voices to hear their music live - even in reading sessions and practice rooms with performers - to get the full experience of the cycle of composing.
I am familiar with the software Sibelius, but prefer for my students to write by hand - at least for drafts - as this gives them the most agency and discipline in composing the music they seek to.
I am looking to open my teaching roster to diligent young composers and aspiring amateurs. Limited spots remain, so please feel free to contact me to secure a spot. I offer all my lessons in English, with the possibility to integrate German into them as well.
- SQ :)
Note: please don't request free lessons; this is not appropriate.

I am Tomás , an experienced live and studio drummer with a Master Of Music degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK and I am available as a private tutor.
MY APPROACH
I am aware that everyone is different and therefore lessons need to be individually tailored every time. I will make an effort to get to know you as a person as well as your reason for playing the drums so I can then adjust your lesson material adequately. This ensures that every student is enjoying themselves from the very first lesson and therefore the learning will naturally occur much faster.
WHERE
Lessons are at my studio in Wedding, postcode 13359. The room is spacious and comfortable and has a PA system and two drum kits, making it ideal for lessons. I am also available to teach at the student’s location;
AGES
I have taught one-on-one lessons to kids as young as 7 but also to adults in their 50s and 60s. Whatever your age, we will make it work.
SKILL LEVELS
My experience ranges from teaching young beginners who are just starting out to mature drummers who need to polish their playing. For beginner students, I will teach you the basics of drumming in an approachable way to make it enjoyable from the very start. For experienced drummers, I can improve your technique, groove, feel, tone, articulation, dynamics, stage performance, vocabulary, listening, and reading. All this so you can become a better musician, not just a drummer. I also like to teach in a way that empowers you to teach yourself in the future.
ABOUT MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching 1-on-1 lessons for 11 years. I also have 7 years experience leading drum and percussion workshops.
ABOUT MY DRUMMING EXPERIENCE

I also have experienced producing, composing, and mixing which I am more than happy to share with you.
If you’ve got any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
All the best,

Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any levelI teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.
I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Piano Lessons in Classical and Contemporary Styles for Beginning-Advanced Levels (ages 6 and up)Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student.
My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaHello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me.
Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on.
Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.
Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing.
No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not?
If you identify with this approach, contact me! Learning the cello is a pleasure, and I'd love to share it with you!

I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student.
The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup.
I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.
