I am inspired by all types of music; Brazilian music, Jazz, Chanson Française, Pop, Rap, Alternative Rock etc.
I would love to support the desires of my student and help them to achieve their musical goals in a fun way.
As a guitar player I am very inspired by Bill Frisell, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, and I can share some improvisational tricks or harmony skills to my students.
We can also work on compositions and songwriting if needed.
I consider myself as a calm and open-minded person, and I would love to help in the best way every person coming to my classes.

    Education

I started to learn guitar at the age of 6 years old.
I started with classical guitar lessons.
Classical guitar lessons although there were short taught me very important guitar technics that are still useful for me today : how to place well the fingers and hands so that it won't hurt on the long term, have a good posture.
From the age of 8 to 12 I learned Blues Rock Guitar Lessons.
Those lessons taught to me to improvise in the musical language of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan , Buddy Guy.
When I started jazz a few years later at the age of 13 I discovered and studied the language of musicians like Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall.
I learned the basics of harmony during those years and I developed my ear training skills.
Also I used to go to the Jazz Workshop of Eric Breton at the Jean-Philippe Rameau Conservatory of Paris each week from the age of 15 till 18.
There I learned to place myself in a band, to accompany other musicians and to develop my improvisations skills.
From the age of 19 till 21 years old I studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Douai in the class of Romain Pilon.
At 21 Years old in September of 2020 I was admitted at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam In Jazz Guitar Bachelor in the class of Jesse Van Ruller, and Reinier Baas.
In April of 2023, my composition WAYNE'S CHOREOGRAPHY recorded in
Amsterdam with my band in February of 2022, won the DownBeat Student
    Music Award.
In May 2023, I was selected to participate in the WIZZ Mentoring Program
created by Anne Paceo, Les Gemeaux, and the Jazz Sous les Pommiers
    Festival in France.
At the age of 23 years old, in September of 2023 I transferred myself to Barcelona to pursue my studies at the Conservatori del Liceu in the Jazz Guitar program.
From September of 2024 I moved to Lisboa to do an ERASMUS program in the Jazz Guitar class of Afonso Pais at the Escola Superior de Musica de Lisboa.

    Experience / Qualifications

I'm a French Guitarist and Composer born in Paris in 1999. I started playing guitar at the age of 6 with blues/rock guitar lessons, my first inspirations were Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy. I began studying Jazz at the age of 14 and learned the language and improvisation by listening to Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall and Pat Metheny.
The discovery of the composer Charles Mingus at the age of 16 was a musical and artistic shock which pushed me to become interested in arrangement and composition. At the same time, I listened to diverse and varied music from Brazilian composers (Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Elis Regina) to alternative rock (The Kills, St Vincent, Moodoïd) through French song (Rita Mitsouko) that also inspire my musical identity.
At the age of 19, I met and studied with Romain Pilon before studying at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam from September 2020 to June 2022 where I studied with Jesse Van Ruller, Tineke Postma, Taali and José James, among others.
Since September 2021, I have formed my group with international musicians from the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam; Tijs Klaassen (double bass/Netherlands), Federica Lorusso (piano/Italy), Chen Har Even (drums/Israel), Lucas Santana (Flute/Brazil) and Meeliann Kosk (Estonia/V ocals).
In April 2023, my composition WAYNE'S CHOREOGRAPHY recorded in Amsterdam with my band band in February of 2022, won the DownBeat Student Music Award.
In May 2023, I was selected to participate in the WIZZ Mentoring Program created by Anne Paceo, Les Gemeaux, and the Jazz Sous les Pommiers Festival.
This program aims to support young jazz musicians and composers, with a concert at the Sceaux Jazz Festival in June 2024. My first album "Une Question d'Enfant" is planned for release in 2025.

    Rodrigo
Piano, music theory, playing by ear - tailored for you
It is never too late to start or resume learning piano! My teaching experience makes me a witness to this. Perhaps you came looking for piano lessons because you wish to be able to play some particular pieces, or to develop specific skills. Or maybe you don't know what your goal is yet, but are fond of the sound of the piano and want to dive into this wonderful instrument. Whatever the case, I am looking forward to hearing from you and discussing your next step! I try as much as possible to tailor the work with each individual student aiming at the goals set and the student's musical tastes. This becomes more the case the higher the student's level of experience. Nevertheless, beginners are also encouraged to suggest music for themselves to learn. The work on pieces is combined with other important activities designed to develop finger dexterity, hand coordination, rhythmic sense, music reading, playing by ear, etc. The Cortot, Hanon and scale exercises are some of my frequent choices for the technical work. For young beginners, I defend a no-book approach during the first 2 or 3 months, for three main reasons: it makes learning more fun, it unlocks our creative potential and it allows us to explore the instrument rather confidently and freely. Instead of learning how to read right from the start, students have the opportunity to play games, listen to music, sing, compose, and improvise over backing tracks, developing the core skills necessary for any musical activity later on. After this period, it is then time to introduce them to a method book. The one I recommend the most is Piano Safari. For teenage and adult beginners, the activities described above are selected and adjusted, and theory concepts may be introduced at an earlier stage. If desired, graded level series such as the RSL Classical or Contemporary Piano, among others, may be opted for. Please notice that my scheduling may not always be up to date on this website, so the best way to know my availability is sending me a message. Feel free to get in touch for any other questions as well! Looking forward to meeting you soon, Rodrigo

I teach vocal technique through body awareness. We’ll dive into the essential principles of singing: breath, resonance, and articulation. We’ll start with some breathing exercises to get warmed up, followed by vocal exercises to work on technique, and then you’ll get to sing a song of your choice. We’ll also bust some common myths about singing, and you’ll be amazed at how much you can learn in such a short time! It’s going to be a lot of fun!
