My name is Wilma, and I have been playing the cello for most of my life. I am passionate about teaching, and have a lot of experience with it. In my lessons, there is a good balance between technique and musicality. Knowing how to (technically) play the cello is important for being able to express yourself on it, and making beautiful music is the reason we play! I involve my students in the process of investigating problems and experimenting with solutions. This gives people a better understanding of the challenges, and motivates them to engage with those. It is particularly interesting that every person has a different way of learning and different needs, and I enjoy tailoring my approach to each student's personality, requirements and tastes, so she or he can optimally learn. Above all, I love inspiring people, seeing them discover their own aptitude for music and growing as musicians. Playing the cello is a wonderful and fun experience and I heartily welcome anyone who would like to come on this adventure! I teach in Amsterdam on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in Zaandam in Thursdays, and in Utrecht on Saturdays.

I have experience with students of all ages and I believe that there is no right age to start learning to play an instrument. I adapt my lessons to the objectives and tastes of each student. Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

Hi my name is Osian and I’m a cellist from South Wales. I’ve taught children of many ages and standards and I really feel privileged to be a part of someone’s musical and personal development. Music lessons can be a way of reaching the concert platform or it could be a way of expressing yourself and being creative, wether it’s a career path or not. I grew up playing and singing where my first priority was to fall in love with music and learn to perform it to the best standard that I could do and that’s what I’d like to encourage my students to aim for too. I’m a BMus Hons Scholar from The Royal Academy of Music and I’m not studying at a masters lever at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
