My name is Wilma, and I have been playing the cello for most of my life. I am passionate about teaching, and have a lot of experience with it. In my lessons, there is a good balance between technique and musicality. Knowing how to (technically) play the cello is important for being able to express yourself on it, and making beautiful music is the reason we play! I involve my students in the process of investigating problems and experimenting with solutions. This gives people a better understanding of the challenges, and motivates them to engage with those. It is particularly interesting that every person has a different way of learning and different needs, and I enjoy tailoring my approach to each student's personality, requirements and tastes, so she or he can optimally learn. Above all, I love inspiring people, seeing them discover their own aptitude for music and growing as musicians. Playing the cello is a wonderful and fun experience and I heartily welcome anyone who would like to come on this adventure! I teach in Amsterdam on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in Zaandam in Thursdays, and in Utrecht on Saturdays.

Hello! I have been teaching classes continuously for more than 10 years and I would like to explain what you can find in a class with me! - To begin with, the most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I would like to focus the classes according to what you need. For example, we will not put the same level of demand if you want to play for pleasure at home without haste or if you want to do some entrance exams to musical studies (although always with the same good rigor). The needs of each student can vary the methodology, the way of organizing the study sessions, the postural work, the repertoire... - Once we know what we want to achieve and by when, classes will begin in a relaxed atmosphere. Important! Relaxed is not equal to undemanding or rigorous, just that we will try not to resort to military methods, especially given my character and sense of humor ;). - Something important to note is that my methods are very dynamic and with special emphasis on the development of the ear and musicality. No reading, spitting and changing songs. I try to avoid methods that focus too much on the continuous reading of scores without memorizing, listening or understanding what is being done and why, especially so that later you can make your own aesthetic decisions and feel ownership of your performance. Alert! Maybe I'll even make you sing. - Last but not least, it should be noted that given my training (I studied classical music and modern music and jazz at the Taller de Músics) my tendency will be to give the same importance to different types of music. My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

Hello, my name is Anna, and I’ve been playing the cello for 22 years. I have a masters degree both in performative arts and teaching cello from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. I have acquired a wide range of tools to inspire my pupils individually in their step-by-step development. I teach learners of all ages and levels, my students are 5-60 years old, from beginner to advanced. When I was 15, my cello teacher asked me to teach her younger pupils. I was enthusiastic of teaching, and I still have the same enthusiasm, but much more knowledge and experience. Playing the cello makes you beautiful both inside and outside!
