Regardless of your level, my harp and music lessons are designed for you. I am a passionate teacher with over 10 years of experience in teaching the harp, music theory, and music education at various levels, from children to adults. I love creating a positive learning atmosphere, allowing the student to feel comfortable and motivated, whether they are a beginner or an advanced musician. Each student will have their own customized study method to progress at their own pace, and I listen carefully to every request to nurture their natural attitude for learning. I pay special attention to the student's preferences in terms of repertoire and goals, even arranging some musical scores that may not have been initially intended for the harp. These lessons are suitable for both amateurs and professional musicians, whether they are young or adults. You don't need to know how to read music (music notation and solfège) or have played an instrument before to learn how to play the harp. My method is organized so that theory is learned through practice. You will quickly discover that the harp, contrary to what one might think, is a very easy instrument to play! How about playing a wide range of musical styles, from classical to Celtic music, and even contemporary compositions? What kind of music inspires you the most? Je porte une attention particulière aux préférences de l'élève en termes de répertoire et d'objectifs, en arrangeant également certaines partitions musicales qui pourraient ne pas être initialement destinées à la harpe. Ces cours s'adressent aussi bien aux amateurs qu'aux musicien(ne)s professionnel(le)s, qu'ils soient jeunes ou adultes. Il n'est pas nécessaire de connaître la musique (lecture de notes et solfège) ou d'avoir déjà joué d'un instrument pour apprendre à jouer de la harpe. Ma méthode est organisée de manière à ce que la théorie soit apprise par la pratique. Vous découvrirez rapidement que la harpe, contrairement à ce que l'on pourrait croire, est un instrument très facile à jouer ! Last year, at that the time my fiancé and I took waltz lessons from Carl for our wedding dance. It was a challenge to find dance lessons in Brussels because both of us are not Belgian and we don't speak either Dutch, or French. In addition, I am really not that good with rhythm when it comes to pre-set dances. Carl was very patient with us (me) and spoke to us in English. Not only he taught us how to dance waltz but also how to behave on the dancefloor as a couple. Everybody at the wedding was amazed of our waltz skills and they loved our wedding dance.

I enjoyed my first lessons. It was both very practical since I learned a lot about the technical aspect of playing an instrument (hand positioning, body posture, etc.) and about the history of harp. The teacher also gave me advice regarding buying my own harp. She was very attentive and paid attention to my every movement, to make sure that I played it all correctly. I am looking forward to having more lessons

My daughter had a very positive and helpful first lesson as someone who has returned to playing cello after a few years break. Maria was professional, kind and constructive in her approach. Both myself and my daughter were very happy with the first 2 lessons and look forward to learning more with Maria.
