Trusted teacher: My name is Lyle, and I teach Trumpet, Piano, and also more general composition and music production. I specialise in contemporary styles (anything from the last 100 years), and have found many of my students typically are: - Young children, who's parents are looking for a teacher who is more interested in flexibility and helping the child become inspired and self-motivated, rather than crushed by overly academic and strict teaching. - Adults who feel like their childhood instrumental learning has left them with large gaps in their knowledge and ability, particularly when it comes to improvisation and playing music without sheet music. - Learners who are interested in developing their musicianship, and curious about, but also a bit scared by JAZZ. - Learners who are interested in recording music, and want advice on both music and professional goals and the industry. I am happy to teach grades, but have a strong teaching philosophy that focuses around more specifically tailored learning paths that focus on giving the student the tools needed to become self-sufficient playing and creating music, whether it be to relax at home, play with others, or write songs. If this sounds good, please don't hesistate to get in touch and we can discuss further! About me: I am currently completing my Level 4 Music Educator certificate from Trinity College, and have been fully teaching professionally for just over two years, since finishing my studies. As a trumpeter, I have played on European tours with various bands, played on great stages such as The Royal Festival Hall, Bath Forum, and at Glastonbury Festival. I also have my own band, LYLE!, in which I sing, play keyboards, play trumpet, and write and produce all of the music, as well as playing and performing with many different bands across the UK.

Rafael is a professional jazz & classical saxophonist, composer, and arranger doubling on the clarinet and flute. With a musical career of over 15 years, he has performed both solo and in collaboration with various musical groups. These include his own bands, esteemed musical artists, cover bands, tribute bands and jazz/swing big bands. His performances have taken him to national and international music venues, festivals, and tours ranging on different styles of music. Having graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire (BMus Hons Jazz Studies) and also completing the 8th Grade (ABRSM) on Classical Saxophone Rafael has long been enthusiastic about studying jazz and classical music on the saxophone. During all his formative years and most of his career he has enjoyed every opportunity to share his passion through music by being an inspiring, supportive and encouraging woodwind teacher. Over the last 8 years of private instruction experience Rafael has been working as a Woodwind Teacher (saxophone, flute, and clarinet) on both classical and jazz music. He believes in creating a friendly and professional atmosphere making sure that students feel supported on their individual musical journey, by giving them the knowledge necessary for reaching their personal aspirations. Rafael has helped many students of all levels and ages to make fast improvement. Over the years he has shown high levels of knowledge having taught music theory (classical & Jazz), Jazz improvisation, composition (classical & Jazz) as well as has successfully preparing students for all the different types of exams such as GCSE, A-Level exams, and ABRSM, LCM, LSM, Trinity College London (TCL), RSM, Rock School. Furthermore, Rafael has conducted few practical 15min seminars on “How to play the saxophone” and also 30min workshop on “Jazz Improvisation” for a community jazz big band (Note Benders) First Lesson Typically, the first lesson begins with an introduction and informal chat where Rafael and his students get to know each other and discuss the student’s musical interests and aspirations. Rafael offers a wide range of experiences and is interested in focusing on ways to help each student achieve their maximum potential. Whatever your background, age group or level, whether you coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, preparing for exams or even on a professional path Rafael has enough knowledge. He’s able to adapt his instruction according to individual needs and preferences of each student by providing books, exercises and/or repertoire. In-person lessons usually take place at Rafael’s teaching studio or alternatively on student’s chosen location. Beginners Rafael understands that starting your journey on learning a new musical instrument can be difficult which is why he’s always a supportive and encouraging teacher towards new students. Beginner students don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever when it comes to either playing or being able to read music. On the 1st lesson usually there’s no need to own an instrument as Rafael will provide everything necessary and guide each student on the basics of how to play the instrument they’re learning. By the end of the 1st lesson students are usually able to play a few notes on the instrument and have all the basic knowledge needed to start learning and begin their musical journey. To benefit from Rafael’s teaching, it’s recommended that student have their own instrument (Saxophone, Clarinet or Flute) although, Rafael has knowledge on available and affordable instrument hire services as well as provides guidance to all students on purchasing their first instrument

Chemistry, whether at the GCSE or A-Level, offers students an exciting journey into the building blocks of our world and equips them with a foundational understanding of matter and its transformations. At the GCSE level, students are introduced to key concepts such as atomic structure, the periodic table, bonding, and chemical reactions. Through hands-on experiments, they explore how elements combine to form compounds, investigate the properties of acids and bases, and study introductory organic and environmental chemistry. Practical skills and theoretical knowledge are developed in parallel, fostering an understanding of the scientific method and analytical thinking. As students advance to A-Level Chemistry, they deepen their knowledge with more sophisticated topics and a greater focus on problem-solving. Here, they explore physical chemistry, learning about reaction rates, thermodynamics, equilibrium, and redox reactions in-depth. Organic chemistry expands to cover mechanisms, functional groups, and synthetic pathways, while inorganic chemistry includes the study of complex compounds and transition metals. A-Level students also engage in advanced practical work, developing precision in laboratory techniques and research skills crucial for scientific inquiry. Together, GCSE and A-Level Chemistry provide a solid framework for students, paving the way for further study in fields like medicine, engineering, pharmacology, and biochemistry. By exploring both fundamental and complex chemical principles, students cultivate a critical understanding of the natural world and gain skills that will benefit them in a wide range of scientific and technical disciplines.
