Trusted teacher: All classes are given online. You will be provided with full methodology and an individual program will be generated for you to make sure you reach your goals. Philosophy is the foundation of all knowledge, the pursuit of truth through reason, and the key to understanding the world, human nature, and society. To study philosophy is to develop the ability to think critically, argue rigorously, and grasp the underlying principles that shape reality. Raised in a family devoted to intellectual discipline and excellence, I was immersed from an early age in classical philosophy, logic, ethics, metaphysics, and political thought. My approach is both historical and analytical, ensuring that students not only learn philosophical concepts but also develop the ability to question, debate, and apply philosophical reasoning to modern issues. A Rigorous Methodology for Mastering Philosophy: Understanding philosophy requires more than reading — it demands a structured approach to reasoning and analysis. I provide my students with a rigorous methodology that enables them to: -Analyze texts with precision, identifying key arguments and logical structures. -Construct well-formed philosophical arguments, mastering the art of reasoning and rhetoric. -Engage in dialectical thinking, refining their thoughts through structured discussion. -Write and express ideas with clarity and coherence, essential for academic and intellectual pursuits. A Dual Approach: The Great Thinkers & The Great Questions: History of Philosophy – The Evolution of Thought -Ancient Philosophy – Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Stoicism, Epicureanism. -Medieval & Scholastic Philosophy – St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus, Suarez. -Modern Philosophy – Descartes, Kant, Rousseau, Hegel, Nietzsche. -Contemporary Philosophy – Existentialism, phenomenology, political philosophy, ethics, metaphysics. Philosophical Themes – Mastering the Core Questions: -Metaphysics & Ontology – What is reality? What is existence? -Epistemology – How do we know what we know? What is truth? -Ethics & Moral Philosophy – What is good? What is justice? How should we live? -Political Philosophy – What is the best form of government? What is freedom? -Logic & Argumentation – Learning how to construct, deconstruct, and refine arguments. -Scholasticism – Mastering the structured reasoning of medieval philosophy, essential for theology and metaphysics. - Languages and societal questions. A Course Designed for Your Needs Whether you seek to explore philosophy for personal enrichment or academic excellence, this program is tailored to your level and goals: -Academic support (school, high school, university) Essay & debate preparation -Personal enrichment (deepening your understanding of the great ideas) -Diplomatic, political, or legal insight (for those in governance, law, or international relations) Philosophy is not just an intellectual exercise—it is a way of seeing the world, questioning assumptions, and refining thought. With my structured methodology, you will gain the ability to navigate complex ideas with precision and confidence. Join me, and develop a mind that is sharp, informed, and ready to engage with the deepest questions of life, to find the truth and, most important, to understand why it is true and how to act upon it.

Trusted teacher: In the CIE (Cambridge International) curriculum, Biochemistry is primarily covered in Biology and partially in Chemistry at both IGCSE and AS/A Level. It focuses on the chemical processes and molecules essential for life. Here's a detailed overview: IGCSE Biology (0610/0970) Biochemistry at the IGCSE level introduces students to basic biological molecules and processes: 1. Biological Molecules - Carbohydrates: - Monosaccharides (e.g., glucose), disaccharides (e.g., sucrose), and polysaccharides (e.g., starch, glycogen). - Role in energy storage and release. - Proteins: - Made up of amino acids. - Functions: enzymes, structural components (e.g., keratin), and hormones. - Lipids: - Fats and oils: composed of fatty acids and glycerol. - Role in energy storage, insulation, and cell membranes. 2. Enzymes - Biological catalysts that speed up reactions. - Factors affecting enzyme activity: temperature, pH, and substrate concentration. 3. Photosynthesis - Biochemical process in plants to produce glucose using light energy, carbon dioxide, and water. - Equation: 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2. 4. Respiration - Aerobic respiration: Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + Water + Energy (ATP). - Anaerobic respiration in humans: Glucose → Lactic acid + Energy. 5. DNA and Protein Synthesis (Basic level) - DNA as the molecule of inheritance. - Role of DNA in carrying genetic information. --- CIE AS and A Level Biology (9700) At the AS/A Level, biochemistry is studied in depth. Key areas include: 1. Biological Molecules - Carbohydrates: Structure and function of monosaccharides, disaccharides (e.g., maltose), and polysaccharides (e.g., starch, glycogen, cellulose). - Lipids: Triglycerides, phospholipids, and cholesterol. Role in membranes and energy storage. - Proteins: - Levels of structure: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. - Role of proteins in enzymes, antibodies, and transport (e.g., hemoglobin). - Nucleic Acids: - Structure of DNA and RNA. - Role of nucleic acids in protein synthesis. 2. Enzymes - Enzyme structure and mode of action (lock-and-key, induced fit). - Enzyme kinetics and factors affecting enzyme activity. - Competitive and non-competitive inhibitors. 3. Cellular Respiration - Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation. - ATP production and its importance as an energy currency. 4. Photosynthesis - Light-dependent and light-independent (Calvin cycle) reactions. - Factors affecting photosynthesis. 5. Molecular Biology - DNA replication, transcription, and translation. - Role of mRNA, tRNA, and ribosomes in protein synthesis. 6. Biochemical Processes in Cells - Role of ATP in metabolism. - Metabolic pathways and enzyme regulation. --- CIE AS and A Level Chemistry (9701) While biochemistry is primarily a biology topic, it also features in chemistry at A Level: 1. Amino Acids and Proteins - Structure of amino acids and peptide bonds. - Protein hydrolysis and analysis. 2. Carbohydrates - Structure of glucose and its isomers. - Reactions of carbohydrates (e.g., oxidation). 3. Lipids - Structure of triglycerides, fatty acids, and phospholipids. - Saponification and ester formation. 4. Biochemical Techniques - Chromatography for separating amino acids and sugars. - Use of enzymes as biological catalysts in industrial processes. --- Summary - At the IGCSE level, biochemistry focuses on basic biomolecules (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids), enzymes, photosynthesis, and respiration. - At the AS/A Level, biochemistry delves deeper into molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, ATP production, protein synthesis, and metabolism.

Dean
Our first lesson with Dean was productive and an eye-opener. The lesson made me realize there are a few critical areas that I needed to grasp and understand to articulate the IELTS exam preparation. The lesson was fun, and Dean is a good attention detail tutor; he takes time to give a clear explanation of what to focus on. His energy is amicable, and he takes his work seriously. Thank you for the first lesson, and we look forward to our following lessons.

Lucía
Lucia is a very likeable, open-minded and quickly accessible person. We booked 5 conversational clases with her during our stay in Sevilla. Lucia was always well prepared. You can talk to her about any subject. The atmosphere was absolutely relaxed from the very first minute and we had a lot of fun. We can strongly recommend her as a spanish teacher.
