As a full time Data Lead and Exams Officer at Conisborough College, I have a unique view of performance metrics, and the latest knowledge on GCSE exams. With a specialism in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, my style of teaching is an expression of my experiences as a student and a tutor. My past tutoring experiences ranges from teaching secondary school classrooms and a lot of work with 1-on-1's. While I have had State Schooling my successful early experiences with exams (SATS, GCSEs) set me up with a solid foundation and ideal to approach exams by myself and eventually find my area of expertise in everything Maths and Physics. When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy is always textbook oriented. My principle in education has always been to know what I don't know and then deal with my not-knowing of that chapter/area. I like to use what is known/understood as a warm up and get creative with it, probing the student's baselines and tactics. The warm up also gives you the winning-feeling about the subject and this is a feeling that grows and brings clarity such that it guided me year in, year out to go and understand every chapter to answer every topical exam question, and it can for you too. Bien que j’aie suivi une éducation publique, mes expériences réussies avec les examens (SATS, GCSEs) m’ont permis d’acquérir une base solide et une méthode idéale pour aborder les examens de manière autonome. C’est ainsi que j’ai pu me spécialiser dans les Mathématiques et la Physique. Lorsqu’il s’agit de préparation aux examens, ma stratégie repose toujours sur les manuels scolaires. Mon principe d’apprentissage est simple : identifier ce que je ne sais pas, puis m’attaquer à ces lacunes. J’aime commencer par ce qui est déjà connu et compris, en l’utilisant comme échauffement. Cela me permet d’évaluer le niveau et les stratégies de l’élève, tout en rendant l’apprentissage plus dynamique et créatif. Cet échauffement vous procure également un sentiment de réussite, qui se renforce au fil du temps et apporte une clarté essentielle. C’est cette approche qui m’a permis, année après année, d’assimiler chaque chapitre et de pouvoir répondre à chaque question d’examen. Elle peut faire la même chose pour vous. For those already are familiar with Dutch; expanding existing knowledge together with a deeper cultural understanding and insight. All students will be provided lesson schedules in advance for their review (time permitting). The main focus is on total immersion in a fun and comprehensible way, without omitting important aspects such as grammar, etc. SOME REVIEWS: Chevaan: Catherina is without a doubt THE best tutor we know. She is exceptionally committed and is always looking to inspire her students. She has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty to help our son with his German. She provides excellent study material, engaging homework and follows up to ensure that her students have really grasped the subject matter. Brian: Catharina has been teaching our 11 year old daughter for the past few months and we are very impressed with her excellent progress in this short space of time. Catharina has developed a very good rapport with our daughter and is patient and knowledgeable. Our daughter always looks forward to her next lesson and even hands in her homework on time! When I asked my two teenagers (19 & 17) what their favorite part of our recent month in Spain was, both of them independently said that their Spanish lessons with Miguel were a highlight. We are complete beginners as native English speakers from Australia and we all had a lot of fun learning from Miguel as a family. We met in the relaxed atmosphere of a lovely café in Russafa. He showed up prepared for lessons and happily answered the many questions my son and daughter had - not just about language but also about Spanish culture. He helped us distinguish between different types / localities when it comes to Spanish. He built our confidence to use what we had learned. He practised with us as we learned. And he encouraged our curiosity. Miguel is a lovely, kind man and we look forward to continuing our lessons with him online now that we are back in Aus. Son, 17 - "He made it fun to learn" Daughter, 19 - “The lessons were super fun and I was always looking forward to going to them and learning more. I wish we had been able to do more lessons while we were there”.

Very clear as to what his teaching methods and goals are, how he'll help you get there - then jumps right in and gets you started with no fuss. I found myself speaking sentences in Wolof by the end of the lesson, and really appreciate the additional written material he supplied as well. As someone who has taught and learned various other languages I can tell that Dembane has a really sound methodology. I'll add to this review in a few months time, but so far I am impressed. Also glad that he is pointing out regional differences between Senegal and Gambia usage to me, as it's relevant to my learning needs. He does personalise the content for the individual student, which is good to see.

I couldn’t ask for a better tutor for my daughter!
