My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes. However, if you lack a passion for music or the instrument itself, I advise against pursuing it. As a friendly and passionate teacher, I derive joy from witnessing my students' progress and enjoy playing duets with them. So far, I have had two sessions with Hamid and the experience has been pleasant. I find that Hamid was well prepared before the classes began. He made his own notes, schedule and was very organised with his approach as a tutor. Professional, clear about his teaching methods etc,. As a tutor, he is very patient and explains everything with a simple and understandable analogies. I am happy with his teaching and hopefully will continue to do so. Highly recommended.
