Trusted teacher: If you’re looking for a tutor to help you to learn a new skill/ rediscover playing the violin, or to help students to stay on track while we’re all at home, do get in touch! If you feel good, you play better! I like to approach each student individually, because we are all physically and mentally built differently. We all should leave a violin lesson feeling great! My teachers Mr. Ngai Ho Chau and Mr. Jeffrey Sit Pak Hong, have been my greatest influence when it comes to teaching. I like to approach each student individually, because we are all physically and mentally built differently. Most importantly, we all should leave a violin lesson feeling great! I have a 100% pass rate and my current sudents achieve a merit and distinction in the ABRSM performance grades1-8! A little about me: Born and raised in Hong Kong, my musical journey began at the age of five when I first picked up the violin. With the support of dedicated instructors, I built a strong foundation in technical precision and musical sensitivity, setting the stage for my future achievements. At the age of eight, I had the privilege of studying under Mr. Ngai Ho-Chau, the former concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. His mentorship not only refined my skills but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for musical expression and the value of diligent practice. Driven by a desire to reach new heights, I earned my LTCL Diploma with Distinction from Trinity London College at eighteen, a milestone reflecting countless hours of dedication. This achievement motivated me to further deepen my understanding of the instrument. Seeking new perspectives, I pursued advanced studies under the renowned violin maestro Mr. Hwang Wei-Ming at Taiwan SooChow University. There, I immersed myself in the art of violin technique, interpretation, and performance, gaining invaluable experience collaborating with talented musicians. Over the years, I received scholarships to study violin at Taiwan SooChow University and California Baptist University. These opportunities enriched my musical experiences and allowed me to perform in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. My journey includes performances with ensembles such as the Hong Kong Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Hong Kong Pro-Arte Orchestra, Taiwan SooChow University Orchestra, and Taiwan Rong-Shing Chamber Orchestra, among others. These experiences continue to inform my approach to teaching, allowing me to provide my students with practical insights and real-world performance techniques. Previously, I taught GCSE Music at Hollingworth Academy and provided violin instruction at The Hathershaw College and Radclyffe School, where I developed a holistic and student-centered teaching approach tailored to each learner's unique needs and goals. Currently, I am dedicated to teaching SEND students at The Peak School, where I strive to create a supportive and calming environment. I often incorporate live violin performances to help my students relax and connect with music on a deeper level. Additionally, I work with private violin students, including young musicians from Manchester High School for Girls and Withington Girls’ School, as well as those preparing for music scholarship auditions at prestigious institutions like London Westminster School. Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Manchester-based artist Emma for her exhibition, Monton in Bloom. This opportunity allowed me to share my music in a creative and inspiring setting. https://montonmatters.co.uk/?s=monton+in+bloom For a glimpse into my most recent performance, you can find me on Instagram at THANKYOUVIOLIN.

HI......I'm Laura, I come from South Africa and cannot wait to teach your kids or help them out It is essential to learn and grasp the English language today in this ever changing world, whether it be through technology, face to face, most businesses use English as a neutral language to communicate. It doesn't just happen, I feel that we have to start at the bottom, that being with children. Children are the key part to our future, they need to be taught from foundation to speak English, to understand the future as well as create the future through a universal and common language. In my class, I will teach the importance of English, how to use grammar properly and new vocabulary. Along with this, especially in this age of technology, kids need to be stimulated at all times, I offer ways and techniques, especially to children with special needs to cope, whether it be for exams or in school or even bring it into every day life, using things like grammar, vocabulary and speech, even listening skills. However in 2016 I decided to study for an English qualification CELTA, I was teaching adults at the time, but flew off to Japan in 2017, it was there I was introduced to children. It was a challenge, as the kids couldn't speak English, they were new to me, however I found my passion. People always told me that I'd be a good teacher, but I wasn't to sure about that path to take. I loved helping children right through 18 with extra lessons, helping them with their homework. When I came back to South Africa, I was given a little Chinese boy to teach English to, wow what an experience, it was just unfortunate that he had to go back to China. From there I put myself out there, created my own business, teaching foreigners. A school asked me to come teach a Chinese girl who was battling. From there, the school sent all the foreign students, but taught local children too, who were battling. I always worked with school teachers at the school on what was needed to be taught. In 2023 the school asked me to teach this little Chinese boy, which today we still have a strong bond and is ahead of his class. In 2020 with covid, all lessons were done online, this was the biggest challenge I had to face with my student. I sat in all his class subjects, learned their syllabus, which was an advantage for the future kids I taught, and teaching him to speak English at the same time. I now am settling in the UK as being an EFL/English teacher in South Africa, there's not much for me there. But before I decided to come here, I taught a little boy with special needs for about a year. He was 9 and far behind his class and was ADHD. Once again, it was a challenge for me, but as time went by I learned how to deal with him too. I had a big garden, if I could see him losing concentration, I'd let him play around for a while with my dogs and cat, then got him back. For me that was so rewarding when the teachers gave his mother feedback on how well he was doing. Sadly finances was becoming an issue, there was more to offer me here in the UK. My first month here I worked for an international language school as my qualification is Cambridge related and taught kids from all over the world. But it wasn't a case of teaching them, we also looked after their well being and took part in all activities. I would finally just like to add that I have an advanced certificate in safe guarding children. Whether it be homework, tutor your child one on one or help even with confidence, I know I'm good at what I do and look forward to teaching your child.

This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

Raef
I found Dr. Ralf to be a wonderful Teacher. The things that he taught me through online helped me a great deal in this class as well as in statistic level. Because of the help and attention that He provided me with, I understand and enjoy Statistics. The class was great in that he didn’t just give the answers away – he made me THINK. This was sort of frustrating, but it helped me understand the material much better. I would recommend him as a Teacher for future classes, without a doubt.
