I am an experienced, engaging and versatile tutor of English Literature, Language, Creative Writing and Poetry. I have a BA in English Literature from Aberystwyth University, an MA in Critical Theory and Creative Writing from Sussex University, and a PhD in Critical Theory and Literature, also from Sussex. I am friendly and supportive, and work with a broad range of abilities and ages. I have tutored GCSE and A-level pupils at State schools across the UK, as well as students at independent schools such as Marlborough College, Bedales, Charterhouse and Hurtwood House. For five years I was also writer in residence at Hurtwood House. Previously, I taught English Literature and Critical Theory at Sussex University, and Creative Writing and Performance Skills at Brighton University. I frequently go into schools and colleges to run one-off enrichment sessions, and have developed standalone programmes for youth centres, arts centres, theatres and creative writing retreats. Whether you are looking for some help catching up after an absence, you need ongoing support with English Literature/Language/Creative Writing, or you’re just looking for some guidance and feedback on a particular essay/writing project I will be happy to help! I can also tailor longer courses specifically to meet your needs and/or interests. I am a writer, actor and stage manager by profession, and am the author of: poetry; poetry in translation; plays; academic writings; reviews/essays; and videogames. For more information, or to ask any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Meanwhile, all the best, Dr Rosy

Hi, my name is Sam. As an active church pianist for 20 years, with a Licentiate Diploma in Classical Piano and Degree in Contemporary Piano, I am confident to assist you in becoming the better church pianist you can be, bridging the information gaps that you may have. As you know, Church Piano accompaniment is extremely different from Classical Piano. Unfortunately traditional lessons do not provide enough answers to the many challenges in accompanying church congregation. In this lesson, you'll learn how to play chords beyond the basics, transition between songs, choosing the right key, applying the right accompaniment pattern, playing without music notations, etc. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Lessons include: 1. Active Aural Training This is not the usual "classical exam format" aural exercises but practical aural techniques I've learned from my years of stage performance. 2. Chords You will learn how to pick the right chords that harmonizes the melody and how to use them effectively. 3. Contemporary Accompaniment styles This includes my bread-and-butter accompaniment styles I use in playing solo piano accompaniment or keyboard in the worship band, and the knowledge I've accumulated over the past 18 years playing in church. 4. Arranging Techniques and Music Theory Music theory and Rhythmic studies provide all the tools you need to create the right accompaniment for any song, any mood, and any occasion. Suitable for Church Pianists of all levels! From Beginner to Experienced! Number of students: 1 per session Number of lessons: 4 lessons for each payment
