I am a patient teacher with an open approach to learning, and I strive to impart knowledge in a pleasant atmosphere. I have been playing the piano since I was a child, and over my 17-year journey with the instrument, I have learned many methods that accelerate learning, and I am eager to share them with you! I gained my musical education over time at the Krakow School of Jazz, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Dominik Wania, Prof. Haruka Matsumoto, and Prof. Jan Kosiak. I started with classical music, performing my first concerts with pieces by Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy, and Mozart. Then came jazz and incredible experiences with Hancock, Chick Corea, and Bill Evans. Currently, I am trying to find my own musical path both as a solo artist and as part of a band. Trusted teacher: (German version further down/Deutsche Version weiter unten) I enjoy teaching because it requires a deeper knowledge of the material than if one is only performing music. I am continuously learning too. I do not think that it is important how old you are or in what environment you grew up. To engage with music as a result of learning an instrument can bring your brain in a healthy state of ongoing change. People that are "without any talent" for music do not exist. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it. I can teach Piano: - involving sheet music or not, depending on what you prefer. - or/and Music theory lessons - or/and Improvisation - or/and Jazz - or/and Ear Training - or/and Composition. The lessons can be held in English or German or a mixture of both. I teach close to Friedrichstraße in Berlin. The lessons can be done via Skype too. You can read about me as a performing musician here: Julius (*1995) is a German pianist and composer, graduated from the University of Arts Berne in Switzerland in 2017 with honors. In July 2019 he finished his Masters in the European Jazz Masters Programme through the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with exchange semesters in Berlin and Amsterdam. Throughout his studies, he was lucky enough to receive artistic guidance by Colin Vallon, Django Bates, Harmen Fraanje, Simon Toldam, Peter Bruun, Greg Cohen, and Michael Moore. Julius was granted a scholarship by Lyra Stiftung Zürich in 2015 and 2016. Tours with his own bands have been supported by different fundings from Switzerland and Germany. He performed all across Europe during the past years. German/Deutsch: Beim Unterrichten ist es notwendig alles tiefer zu beherrschen als wenn man „nur“ Musik macht. Ich lerne stets auch als Lehrer dazu. Es ist irrelevant wie alt Sie sind oder in welcher musikarmen oder musikreichen Umgebung Sie aufwuchsen. Julius spielte in den letzten Jahren Konzerte in ganz Europa.

After years of me struggling independently with a few pieces, he was able to show me new ways of approaching the music that transformed even the hardest parts into something accessible. He has a lovely and genuine way of offering encouragement / recognizing progress, while still keeping track of the underlying objective; a more far-reaching arc of improvement. I like how he remembers this larger perspective from week to week (especially when I forget), and finds ways to expertly weave the end goal into incremental, manageable steps.
