I have been teaching Turkish to foreigners and I have taught hundreds of students from all ages and professions for more than 20 years. I am a professional English teacher but I like teaching Turkish more as it is my mother tongue and it is a great pleasure for me to share its secrets and beauty. While teaching I also love giving some useful information about the culture, people, cuisine, films and literature in Turkey to help you get connected to Turkish culture. I prepare written and verbal dialogues in the areas the student is interested in. I am from Istanbul but I traveled almost all cities, mountains, rivers, lakes in Turkey. I am a person who likes less traveled roads and back streets. Traveling around the world and reading on the areas of spirituality, philosophy, psychology, and literature are my number one hobbies. I lived and worked in London, Toronto, and S. Korea. Living as an expat and learning several languages have helped me having sympathy with my students. If you are a beginner I give a short lecture about the history of Turkish and its characteristics and help you find your way in this very logical, consistent and elegant language. You understand that Turkish is different but that does not necessarily mean difficulty. From the first lesson, you start speaking Turkish and find yourself in a dialogue. I can teach at my place and your place (all around Istanbul). I use several books using a grammar-based approach integrated with communicative methods to boost the development of all language skills. But we always focus on TALK, TALK, TALK. As a language learner for many years, I know one can learn, improve and take pleasure in a foreign language only by talking and communicating. It is essential to get direct pleasure from what you have learned. My aim is to motivate and inspire you to speak Turkish ignoring minor mistakes and without thinking grammar. I try to keep in contact with my students almost every day through whatsapp and email. And start some short dialogues.

I am English and speak fluent Dutch. Spanish has always been a language that I loved and wanted to learn. So, I took the plunge and started learning with Patricia. Patricia is such a dedicated highly professional teacher, full of enthusiasm. She inspires me by using all kinds of different lesson methods. Reading, watching films, various writing exercises that she creates herself, she also encourages students to attend monthly get togethers where we all speak Spanish together around a well adorned table of food and drink with a Spanish speaking country as the theme. Her patience with my slow talking and constant mistakes with word endings and verbs is just amazing!! I have been learning for more than half a year now and I hope many more years to come.Thank you Patricia! I highly recommend this teacher.

I’ve had an amazing experience with Rana today, with my 4,5 year old daughter. She’s so creative and really great at engaging my daughter in the teaching, even though it’s the first time they meet. My daughter is usually shy and needs time to open up to strangers. But Rana managed to “get down to her level” very quickly which made my daughter comfortable and talkative. So I’m very pleased. Maria is an excellent teacher who can adapt her teaching style according to her student. My daughter and I both had lessons with her and we both found the lessons both enjoyable and challenging. We both feel we made progress. My daughter has had several tutors over the years and thinks Maria is, for her, perfect. She makes the lessons fun while having a structure and aim for each lesson so progress is always made.
