I have been teaching for over 5 years and have taught a range of subjects including English Language, Politics and Sociology. I always aim to construct my teaching around the needs and desires of my students, but frequently use a discursive method for teaching as this is generally the end goal of learning any language. I believe people learn best when they are enjoying themselves, so try to find out about my students, what their interests are and then find suitable reading and discussion materials to help them engage with the learning process. I am very interested in social questions, philosophy, arts and culture, film, literature and people's personal life experiences. I am a very relaxed and patient teacher, who follows the pace set by the student. I enjoy connecting with new people and find teaching fun.

Very clear as to what his teaching methods and goals are, how he'll help you get there - then jumps right in and gets you started with no fuss. I found myself speaking sentences in Wolof by the end of the lesson, and really appreciate the additional written material he supplied as well. As someone who has taught and learned various other languages I can tell that Dembane has a really sound methodology. I'll add to this review in a few months time, but so far I am impressed. Also glad that he is pointing out regional differences between Senegal and Gambia usage to me, as it's relevant to my learning needs. He does personalise the content for the individual student, which is good to see.

Yu feels like a very experienced girl, she gives you the right kind of attention. Her command and enthusiasm of the Chinese language is out of this world. Not only will she teach you Mandarin very professionally, but she will also explain and give historic reasons for some notions. To put a word or phrase into context is in my opinion a very effective and pleasurable way of learning a new language. Within an hour we made so much progress; something I honestly did not expect. I'm very happy I found her and I'm already hyped for the many lessons to come.
