Trusted teacher: Hello, welcome to my ad! My name is Matéo and I am 26 years old. I have been playing guitar for 9 years and teaching it for 5 years. After studying at the conservatory and music school, I obtained my Diploma of Musical Studies (DEM) specializing in jazz guitar. Over the years, I have been able to accompany around forty students, both in private lessons, group lessons and at the conservatory where I teach today. OPTION1) The course I offer is aimed at beginner to intermediate level guitarists, of all ages (children too!), in acoustic and electric guitar. My goal is to give you the essential basics of the instrument (body position, technique, chords) as well as an understanding of fundamental musical concepts (rhythm, ear, reading tablature and/or music theory) which will be very useful to you as a musician. We will base our learning as quickly as possible on real pieces of music, if possible suggested by the student because I think that learning by playing the music you like is the most motivating method. As a teacher, I have always adapted as best I could to each profile to make them learn in the way that suited them best, make them play the music they like, help them with their difficulties and push them to surpass themselves in their abilities. Finally, I always make sure that the lessons take place in a calm and pleasant atmosphere so that the student progresses at their own pace and learns while having fun. OPTION 2) This course is for intermediate to advanced guitarists (and musicians in general) who want to acquire a deeper understanding of music theory. What we can cover, depending on your needs: analysis, harmony, composition, transcription, improvisation, music theory, ... Lessons can take place at my home, in the 15th arrondissement, or at the student's home where I can travel (for an extra) within a reasonable radius. I don't think everybody who is a good musician can be a good teacher and I had some bad teachers in my life so I put a lot of effort in being on the top of my game. It is important for me to have a comfortable and friendly atmosphere during lessons, set individual goals based on musical tastes and have a structured, personalised approach. This class is meant for students of different age groups and playing levels. From absolute beginners to more advanced players. The approach is individual and we will discuss the desired goals in advance and build the learning process around those. Some topics that are usually covered are rhythm guitar, being able to accompany yourself while singing (in different styles and techniques), lead guitar, improvisation (from basics to advanced), general knowledge of the fretboard and technique. There will very likely be some degree of music theory during guitar lessons as I am a firm believer that you have to understand the thing you're learning to fully master it, but no worries - it will only be as much as is necessary to have the control and understanding of the instrument in a chosen style (and if you are into music theory I will be more than happy to nerd out together!).

Singing Lessons (Individual) - Pop, Jazz, Soul, Blues, Rock (Amsterdam)

Not just a singing teacher, but by the way also the best vocal coach you can get hold of at this moment and in this area of the Netherlands (so take your chance...;-)). For about 3 years I had a serious problem with my vocal chords (incomplete closure) and a dislocated larynx. I started to be in contact with Stefano by chance asking him to show me some (singing) exercises additionally to my treatment at the ENT-department of Martini Ziekenhuis Groningen as well as an ongoing therapy at a professional trained speech therapist. To cut a long story short: Within a couple of lessons and dedicated exercises he succeeded in re-positioning my larynx and got rid of my incomplete vocal cords closure, meanwhile the medical specialists had decided that the only cure could possibly be an operation... As a ‘side-effect’ I am now able to sing and control my voice like I have never been able before and could never have imagined that this was possible to achieve by just some simple but individually chosen exercises and practice. David is an amazing teacher! He has very well thought out teaching style, focused on improving my technique, and providing clear and practical guidance. I really appreciated his willingness to tailor the lessons to my personal interests and goals. I also asked lots of questions about music theory and music production and he knew it all!
