Trusted teacher: No, Japanese is not an exotic language or one reserved for manga fans, and impossible to really master... even for French speakers! As proof, here I am after several years of learning, diversifying my language course offering. After Dutch, German, English and Russian, I am adding Japanese to my range. ○ I teach full-time; it’s not a hobby ○ Good news: for me, learning is not limited to long lists of vocabulary. My classes take place in a relaxed and caring atmosphere, I am in opposition to the strict-rigid framework of some schools In class, we combine learning grammar (a crucial and comforting foundation for beginners) with numerous practical exercises and role-playing exercises so that the student can manage on their own in the real world. Above all, I transform language into a kind of game/code that must be deciphered. It is then enough to "grasp" the logic... It is "enough" of course - but that is my job - I will take care of it! I have a myriad of paper materials but I prefer PowerPoints and other fun, interactive tools projected on my TV/computer screen when the course is online. ➤ Theory, exercises, supports provided free of charge with our courses ✦ We are a team, get involved; write to me outside of class ✦ ■ By email, text message, or WhatsApp: for your questions, clarifications, requests between classes ■ My courses are tax deductible, I issue invoices. I like to differentiate myself from those distant teachers who don't make you want to learn.

Trusted teacher: Hello, My name is Emi, and I’m a Japanese language tutor based in Tokyo. While working in an office, I also teach Japanese. I majored in economics at university and later spent over 20 years working in back-office roles at housing manufacturers, consulting firms, and nonprofit organizations. In 2005, I entered an art university, completed a master’s program in art studies while working, and am now writing my doctoral dissertation. I also work as a part-time lecturer, supporting students in their studies and guiding them in essay writing. About My Lessons The main goal of my lessons is to help you communicate smoothly and effectively with Japanese speakers. To achieve this, we focus on: • Expressing your thoughts clearly (speaking/writing) • Understanding what others are saying or writing (listening/reading) Customized Lessons I tailor each lesson to suit your goals, level, and interests. In our first lesson, I’ll ask you about your objectives and specific needs, so we can design a program just for you. Lessons are conducted primarily in Japanese, but I can assist in English if needed. I also have a basic understanding of Spanish, so feel free to relax and enjoy the lessons! Examples of Lessons I Offer • Practical conversation practice using natural Japanese (without textbooks) • Practice with materials like GENKI etc. • Reading news articles or short stories written in Japanese together Specialized Japanese Lessons • Japanese for the Workplace: Writing emails, communicating with colleagues and supervisors, and understanding Japanese business culture • Academic Japanese: Reading academic texts, writing reports and theses, and using language suitable for scholarly discussions (especially in fields such as art, culture, literature, society, and philosophy) My Approach to Japanese Learning My own experience of learning English and Spanish has helped me understand the depth of Japanese expressions and culture. Japanese reflects unique cultural values and ways of thinking, which often makes it difficult to translate directly. By learning about the cultural and contextual background of Japanese expressions, you’ll not only improve your skills but also use the language more naturally and effectively. That’s why in my lessons, I aim to share not only the language itself but also the cultural nuances behind it. I believe this approach can make your communication in Japanese more enjoyable and meaningful. Thank you for reading. I’m here to support your Japanese learning journey and to help you explore the language and culture with confidence and joy. If you’re interested in my lessons, feel free to get in touch!

Trusted teacher: Hello there! My name is Chihiro from Japan. At the moment, I just came back to Japan from Berlin and will be a student to learn acting in the UK this Oct. I have experience teaching kids to adults. Also, It would be a great chance for you to learn business Japanese as I used to work in an IT company. Furthermore, I love singing. Currently, I’ve been learning musical theatre and acting. I'm keen on art such as music, film, theatre, and photography. Hopefully, we could talk about what you love! Regarding my lesson, We could learn from the characters. After getting used to it, we could use simple scripts to practice speaking and learn useful phrases. At times, we could play games, listen to Japanese music, read the news, etc. I have 4 years of teaching experience. On my university dates, I taught Japanese and other subjects to children from primary to secondary school, which was ideally suited for me. *My methodology Expand your vocabulary -Checking if you understand how to read characters in games Repetition -Giving you homework to make sure you could use new vocabs and phrases properly Speaking -Practicing speaking with simple conversational scripts Book lessons with me as we can discuss your goals and how I can help you reach them. After the first lesson, just let me know your thoughts, and we could continue to study together if you are up for it. Normally, from the second lesson, I will give you some homework. Moreover, your level will be checked with N5 or N4 sample tests. I would recommend you take lessons at least 1 or 2 per week at least. Joanne
Joanne is an excellent and highly professional teacher. She took the time to carefully listen to what I wanted to learn and prepared the lessons accordingly. Her explanations of grammar were clear and detailed. As a native Japanese speaker, I especially appreciated how she highlighted both the similarities and differences between Korean and Japanese, which greatly deepened my understanding. The example sentences she provided were practical and relevant to everyday use, helping me not only to grasp the grammar but also to improve my conversational skills. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn Korean.
